    Yes, I was born and raised in SoCal. I don't do cold weather. I haven't been anywhere near snow in 32 years. Now come summer, we are hardly ever in the house unless it's over 100*.

      I had a parent say once Could you keep sally inside today she has a cold. I looked at her and said. I am sorry but I would not be comfortable leaving a 2 yr old all alone in the house while I took everyone outside for an hour. I could lose my license over that. Then I waited. mom said I did not think of that. I was ready to say if she is too sick to play she needs to leave. Instead mom said make sure she keeps her coat zipped.
      It:: will wait

        I always tell my parents to assume we are going out!! Snow- snowpants, boots mittens, hat winer coat!!. Rainy boots jacket and a change of clothes!! If it is at all possible, we will be out! There were very few days this winter that we were not out. I also have a pretty sheltered patio that we can be out on to at least jump around and be loud for a few moments on!

          I hope you're lucky enough to live somewhere warm! Here that wouldn't fly or I wouldn't be able to meet the state mandated outdoor play reqs.

          It's 50 today, all of my windows are cracked and we spent a morning at the playground and a nature trail. It gets to be 60 in late May and cools down to 50s by September.

            I always fall back on regulations... "According to licensing we have to go out unless it's under 20 degrees, over 90 degrees or is pouring rain. Sorry..."

              At 50* my house is closed up and the heater is on. It's 64* and my house is closed up and I rarely shut all the windows.

                Sometimes I even feel guilty for having it so high at 40, because the childcare weather watch chart seems to think 20/30 is a perfectly fine temperature to take them outside. I just can't do it, I am miserable.
                That is my licensing requirement as well.

                For ME, that means we are going outside unless it is raining or at or over 100 degrees. Anything under 100 where rain isn't involved, we will be outside for some period of time. When it gets into the really hot summer weather, our recess time is switched to the early morning and we tend to play in the shade a lot more with water.

                  I'm not regulated on this but we go outside if its not raining and above 40ish although I don't check a thermometer . We also swim most days in the summer. I have quite a bit of shade and my kids would go outside in a hail storm if I'd let them.

                            So, she's been completely pulled from your care because of that? Or is she just waiting out her cold at home.....in her capris.

                                Yea, we California girls are very used to 70-80 degree weather most of the time.
                                We even go to the beach at Christmas time!

                                But we do have parents that think we live in the Arctic and bring their kids in 4 layers of clothes, winter coat gloves etc. all times of the year and if we didn't "unlayer" them they would probably get heat stroke or something...
