Would This Be Fair Or Not

Do not explain "WHY" you can't keep the kids late that night. IMHO, the less you say to her the better. Just simply say, Suzy and Johnny need to be picked up by X:XXPM. I will start charging a late fee at X:X1PM. You have a husband, you have kids, they have needs too.- Flag

They LIED to you.
They got busted.
The lie granted them EXTRA.
They got busted.
They lose EXTRA.
Stop second guessing your self.
Would you keep donating money to a charity after it was discovered it was not actually a charity? Ok, so that was rhetorical because THAT is what you are currently doing.....
Hugs.- Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.- Flag

Personally I'd give back the measly $36. You alone are going to be saving way more than that by not feeding them supper. That way they don't have anything to fight you on. I don't know exactly what your contract states. If it states that you get your time off paid keep it. If your time off is not paid for return it. I BELIEVE you deserve the money, but you need to do what the contract says. If they owe for NOV, I'd keep it and deduct it from Nov's pay. We want and expect the parents to fallow the contracts/we should do the same. I realize that they have broken the rules, but your the professional.
Good luck with the rest of the monthWhy did they pull the children from care? Just a question. It is more than likely a blessing in disguise for you.

Since they don't need the extra time for work and you only have the rest of the month left with this family, I would refund the extra that they paid & let them know what time to pick up. They are already moving on and I think the interviews are more important than trying to keep this family happy.- Flag

I would refund their balance and term them completely.
It's time for them to move on to another provider to restart the shunning of their children. They have maxed you out so the only way to go is to start over with someone who is desperate and inexperienced.
Time for them to go.- Flag

Chances are the mom would walk in during the middle of the interview and cause a scene. No way would I do an interview with the other kids there.
I am sorry that things turned out the way they did for you. I believe that your stress level with decrease with them gone.- Flag

I would hate for a new client have to see me constantly correcting a Childs behavior while trying to give a tour. You know how crazy some kids get when another adult is present.- Flag

I get the feeling thought this family has already been termed so you won't need to worry now?- Flag

I only ask this bc I've been in a situation before where I've had to interview while some of my daycare families are still here bc the interviewing family could not come later. So I made those families understand that I'd be interviewing but also my husband would be there acting as an assistant to help. I also would advise the interviewing of your situation with this family and why your replacing them that way they understand there could possible be some unpleasantness. I am always upfront with my families. With the late family though I would just make it short and sweet. Kido's will need to be picked up no later then 5pm such and such day. No explanation. This is a must and if they are not picked up late fees will be applied.

This so sad and you have been taken advantage of by this family. What?! It's too stressful to feed their own child dinner?I'm speechless!
You definitely need to look out for what is best, in regards to your business and I would tell them you need their child picked up at such and such time, b/c you have an appt.
I agree, you owe them no explanation as to what appt or why this is necessary. It would be in your best interest to have this child picked up early, so that there are no issues with new clients interviewing, so if it were me, I would reimburse them for the extra amount they paid for that particular day.- Flag
