No diaper bags here either. I worry too much about the possibility of bugs.

The last center I worked at we had a a parent accidentally leave weed in their preschoolers backpack. That was an interesting phone call...

That was mostly what was in the other thread.

I'll bet. If I ever came across that, I'd be making a call too.

        That moment when

Everybody is asleep (even SA!!) EXCEPT the 8mo old that is currently being very loud BECAUSE DCM decided to drop off 2hrs early today. With a 20min. warning :dislike: At first, I was really sad to see this family go next week, (moving) but DCM has really been taking advantage of me lately & Im sick of it. She told me for MONTHS that DCB last day was the last day of August, & after I already told the new family they could start on Sept. 1st, she then said she was finishing out the week. Fine. I apologized to the other family & felt like I made myself look unprofessional. :dislike: THEN last week she said she needed care through December! & seemed mad when I told her that its too late, I already filled the spot. After next week I will have all new families & Ive already started to enforce my rules with them & have very clearly set my boundaries!

Wasn't that the best being able to say NO.
In my policy notice must be in writing with a set end date. There is no care after that date, and no "take backs." I wouldn't have allowed them to stay past the time they first gave
Good Luck with your new families! happyface

School starts tomorrow. Looks like EVERYONE got new shoes whether they were heading off to school tomorrow or not. FOUR kids show up today with new shoes with laces. My contract clearly states (and I stress this to parents, too) that I do NOT allow shoes with laces unless the child can tie their own shoes. I've been tying shoes all.day.long. I finally quit and told the kids to go barefoot outside because I am done tying shoes. I hope that I don't shriek when I reiterate to parents that they can NOT wear those freaking time wasters here!

Are you open on Labor Day?

Really? A drop-in mom sent me a text asking me to take her 2 kids (both under 2) on Labor Day. She was surprised that I was closed (as is her regular provider). She and her husband BOTH have the day off...what is so bad about spending a holiday with your kids?

This day has been just one surprise after another. Maybe I'm too judgemental, but I've seen some of the biggest parenting fails of my life today. This has to be the 9th thing today that's made me reconsider my career, and NONE of those things have anything to do with the children.

Just a minor annoyance that I feel the need to vent over.

My one high maintenance Dcm shows up to pick up her kid. She likes to put on a little show about how good a mommy she is every day and that all by itself gets annoying. She is always trying to engage the other kids and I am constantly redirecting them. While she is putting on her show I see another Dcd pull up in the driveway (I know he will be in a hurry to get his other kid at school.)

I ask dcb to quickly pick up his blocks because dad will be in a hurry. This lady stands there in the way and tries to talk with the kid while I'm trying to get him to pick up. Dad walks in and asks him to hurry and then ding-a-ling dcm tells dcb what a great job he's doing picking up (He was actually piddling a bit!). Plus I dislike over praising kids for doing things they should be doing! Then she insists he stops and give her a high 5 before she leaves!

It took everything in my to not apologize for the woman to this Dcd. Her I'm such good mommy show is getting old!

Sorry for the rambling just feeling annoyed!

Some of these dcps are severely underpaying me for the work and time their kids take to deal with.

School starts next week for 4 of them and I CANNOT WAIT.

That's so annoying when you know parents don't care if they have time with their kids.

From /88 to /97 I babysat for someone pretty much every evening and most weekends. The father would get home from work, they have supper, then the kids go to my place, or I go to theirs, so the parents can "have a night out". By the time they got back home, the kids were in bed. By the time the kids got up for school, the father was gone. I worked on renovations all day, went home, then babysat all evening. I didn't mind at all, but really would have liked to see the kids have a father. During school, even the mother only saw them for an hour in the morning and 2 hours after school. You'd think she'd want more time with them. They grew up being closer to me than their parents.

I feel ya. I am counting down. Thought I had all the spots filled for the kids that are leaving but....one of the other kids informed me he is going to PK. Thanks DCM 😏

I have my first cold in who knows how long. I feel just terrible. Can't tell by looking at me...just congested.

4 hours until closing and then one 30 minute interview and I'm done! happyface

My difficult child has been here for 11 weeks. Here are the behaviors he's cycled through so far:
                                Week 1: Mouthing everything
                                Weeks 2-5: Biting people
                                Weeks 6-7: Hair-pulling
                                Week 8: Shoving
                                Weeks 9-10: Gouging/slashing
Week 11 retrospective: Back to mouthing everything
And it's been a good month since I've had a serious inquiry in response to any of my ads.
