Well, if it doesn't go away or is reoccurring there is a possibility that it is a type of yeast infection. Those could be very bad. My daughter was prone to those and they did bleed at times. My pediatrician gave me two tubes of antifungal cream because it was so difficult to get rid of.
Diaper Rash :(

If mum says Vaseline works best, do this. Use the creamy vaseline. Then put diaper ointment or straight vaseline over it. The creamy is a lotion and heals the rash while the normal blocks out moisture. Aquaphor is our favorite to put over the top.- Flag

I think the suggestions on here are spot on and you are doing the right thing by having a Dr see the DCB. Unfortunately, we sometimes have to give parents a little "shove" to properly handle these types of situations. The fact that the baby has eczema leads me to believe it is possibly allergic!
Here are two awesome diaper rash cream suggestions: Arbonne. You'd have to find an independent consultant to order it, but the stuff is amazing! It helps with eczema, too!!
This will sound strange, but Corona brand hoof and udder cream! It is actually for animals and you can get it at feed stores, but it ha lanolin and an antiseptic in it and it has been used in my family for generations! Clears stuff right up! (Unless it IS yeast!)
Just a couple of things you could suggest to Mom!- Flag

Thanks all for the great advice!
I had DCM over for a little meeting and showed her some research, dome pictures ( looks like it is yeast ) suggested she take DCB to the Doctor and return with a note and treatment plan.
She sadly, went on to say, " I can not force her to take her child to the Doctors, that is not your role..and you ate being ridiculous."
I said, " I can ask, not force you to go- but I can also suspend care until you get this delt with, it is my job to look out for the best interest of every child in my care, and your Son is obviously in pain and the treatment plan you are willing to use (Vaseline) is obviously not working."
It is in our laws that I as a DCP can not treat the child with anything
Other than what Mum provides unless written not so I was stuck to Vaseline
In the end the Mum said she did not need the extra stress and a DCP telling her how to raise her child, so I packed up his belongings gave
Him a squeeze and said my goodbyes
Needless to say Mum couldn't find care come Monday and was at my doorstep, I said sorry no re-dos
All the best and closed my door.
This little guy is a big handful so family was
Out- I feel awful as I did grow to love this little guy BUT already filled his spot.
I really hope DCM takes this as a lesson learned- Flag

You have told her that society has a stake in the well being of her child and that she can not give anyone permission to do the wrong thing. Using vaseline on a terrible diaper rash is the wrong thing and hosting a child in your home who has an untreated medical condition is the wrong thing.
Just know that YOU did the right thing... you did your job.
Nice job- Flag

You have given this Mom a wonderful gift. She doesn't realize it yet but one day when she's quite grown up... she will.

Thanks I was beginning to doubt myself and have had a rough time with letting this little guy go! Also, I was afraid people would think I did the wrong thing if word got out- but I keep telling myself she made the decision in the end...- Flag
