Unfortunately, doing daycare is a business and even good businesses have clients that come and go. Just do the best job you can and your clients will love you! You may run into strange or bullying parents that may blame something on you that wasn't your fault. Don't take everything personal and just do your job, which sounds to me like you are already doing a good job! I try to keep everything extra on hand just in case. Diaper rash cream, sippies, bottles, tylenol, thermometer, first aid materials, blankets and whatever else a person might need for a child on a daily basis except personal clothing.
Well Now I Totally **** :(

Ok so I had an incident where I ran out of diaper rash cream once (for my own DD before I ever did DC) and I couldn't run out to get any so I made a paste with corn starch and water and put that on her bum. It already looked better by the next diaper change.
If your DC kid has a diaper rash because of the medicine and she has diharea you should check the diaper every hour and change it immediately if it's wet or soiled. That will help alot. My son recently had the same issue and I had to change his diapers alot and I would give him a sitz bath and wash his bum with mild soap (dove) instead of using wipes. It's alot of work for a DC kid but I know that actually washing his bum worked wonders (wipes can sometimes leave a light residue of bacteria making the diaper rash take longer to heal). Just giving some ideas in case you ever get caught without cream again.- Flag

naked time on a blanket/towel can also work wonders on a really bad rash--bonus point if you can get some sunlight on it too.Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!- Flag

just some suggestions if you cannot find bum cream when needed.
1) 15 mins in a warm baking soda bath (google the amounts of water to baking soda)
2) cornstarch
3) air it out
4) if there is a rash do not use vaseline as it seals in the moisture. i've made this mistake before so don't feel bad.
5) if you have baby powder that does not have a scent in it, you can sprinkle some on the diaper or on the baby, and it will not help much but it shouldn't make it any worse.
I'm sorry you are going through this. Just remember though, everything happens for a reason. Although I'm questioning this myself right now because everything electrical/mechanical I touched in the last few days has broken or gone wonky. haha. I even broke my computer yesterday, but my friend helped me to fix it. whew.- Flag

Thank you so much for all the replies!I am taking them to heart and I agree with you all. I do have to look at my daycare as a business and realise that I am confusing doing the best job I can as "people like me/dont like me" I am not perfect but I really try. We take walks, play outside, and I am continually trying to think of ways to incorporate both learning and fun into thier day. Yesterday we played summertime Bingo. Today we are walking to the park after nap. I keep my client #'s low in order to have time for the children in my care. So I think I was most upset by the idea that I was truly doing my best and it still might not be good enough if you know what I mean?

diaper rash on its own is upsetting!
And the corn starch does wonders, and now you'll be prepared for emergency surprize rashes.
I think the circle of friends thing is good. Let it work for you, let them co-op a little and let their kid's friendships grow. Your relationship with the parents can be a really great partnership. Don't let the other posters here make it seem like you have to have an adversarial relationship with your parent group. Lots of families share a nanny - these guys are really glad they found you. Have a picnic and be their friend too.- Flag
