I got super excited when we got our new front load set too....must be an age thing?!?!? Anyways, the first day I had mine, I went through the whole house LOOKING for laundry to wash...stripping beds....YES, you can wash blankets and things that never fit into a regular washer now!! I started my first load and sat in front of it watching the entire cycle as it progresses....my DH kept sticking his head in the laundry room to make sure I hadn't completely lost it!!

I'm so jealous My laundry room is about 10x8, so no room for a front loader
You'll have so much fun doing laundry now! Maybe the whole family will want to help::::

Ugghh.. I just got my new front loaders a few months ago and I just did something so stupid. I washed a floor mat in hot water and all of the rubber backing fell off. I went to go change the wash and it stinks like burnt rubber now and my washer is full of rubber pieces.... I just ran it through the washers wash cycle to see if it will come clean... Boo on me.

I hope that the smell goes away.

I absolutely love my front loader! And I too, can sit there and watch it do the whole cycle! I love the fact it holds more and works more efficiently. Our electric bill (with new washer and dryer) has gone down over $20 per month (with a family of 4 kiddos and 2 adults).

As for the soap, I make my own laundry soap which suds(es) less, which is the difference between the front and top load ones. Not trying to be super hippie, but if you do research on laundry soap, they put chemicals in it so it bubbles, (which we think is a sign of clean) and fragrance chemicals, and then they add lots of water (cause using more if obviously better!). With my soap, I only use 1/3 of a cup per load...and it is super cheap. If it can clean my husband's clothes, it can clean ANYTHING!

I'm 28 and get excited about appliances, so I don't think it's an age thing. Maybe for me it's a Type A thing. I'm the woman, who, after spending 50 bucks on organizational bins, was just as happy as a kid in a "very organized" candy store! LOL! I'm such a freak.....

                OP, 2 more days!

I don't see this harming the front load washing machine but if you want to get any smells, dirt, grease, grime, etc out of a washing machine or a dishwasher there are 2 or 3 options. And as long as you have the stuff on hand, it doesn't cost extra

                  1) 1/2 C. Bicarbonate Soda (baking soda) and run the washer empty (about 1/2 water level)

                  2) same as above using 1 C Vinegar instead.

                  3) using both!

                  Works everytime.

Yeah, I shouldn't have said "age" I should have said maturity because it has nothing to do with age but has everything to do with maturity! My DH and I knew we had reached that time of maturity when he won $700 on a scratch-off lotto ticket right after we were married and even though we really wanted a big screen TV and to go out and party....we bought a new fridge. LOL!!

I think every household manager would get excited about a new, front load washer. Especially an LG!

I have an LG. I asked for the biggest, fanciest model we could afford, and I don't regret it a single moment. It washes like a dream...and the HE soap DOES make a difference. You have to use a lot less soap in these types of washers. HE works better.

I don't leave the door open between washes, but then, I wash full loads almost every day, and I don't use a lot of soap at all (mostly wash using baking soda), so there's no stinky buildup at all.

It feels like a silly thing to be happy over, but you should be. So happy for you!
