My New Front Loading Washer & Dryer!

Why do I feel like my newborn baby is being delivered on Saturday??? I don't think it's possible for me to be any happier about my new LG Ultra Capacity front loading washer & dryer!!!

My old dryer FINALLY broke (it came with the house and then we had it for over 13 years after that) and we've been going to the laundromat for about 2 months now. I could put a bullet in my head every Friday night that I've had to haul clothes, sheets and comforters for our FAMILY OF FIVE to the laundromat...it's just not right!!! I think I'd rather beat the clothes on a rock outside in the backyard!!! I think I'll wash a few loads, get out the old sleeping bag and curl up in front of my warm dryer on Saturday night.

Does anyone else have a front loader??? I'm excited (obviously) but nervous...is there anything I should know???

We have a front loading washer and dryer. The only thing that's really different, is that I don't put as much in a load as I used to. And I have to make sure I put an empty laundry basket under the washer when I'm switching the laundry over to the dryer. I do this because when I'm taking out clothes, the smaller things like socks fall on the floor.

Other than that, no difference for me! I get excited about new things too!

I just got a new front load washer and dryer a few weeks ago and love them. Make sure you use the HE laundry soap otherwise you will have bubbles everywhere. I love doing laundry now

If you dishwasher ever needs to be replaced try this one. You can wash two separate loads.

My front loader is a couple of years old and I love it too On the downside though...things may have changed since I got mine, but we have to thoroughly wipe the gasket dry between uses and leave the door ajar to avoid mildew growth.

              .
I heard that this was common due to all of the small cavity spaces. I guess there are pros and cons to having the old fashion kind and the new ones.. I just got mine a few months ago and love them, but I do see this as an issue, and was told by the sales guy that it was an issue. However, I don't miss having to untie my under garments from the rest of my clothes or the agitator.....

I have a new LG front loading dryer... and I LOVE IT!!! It dries loads faster than my washing machine can wash a load. It's AWESOME!! I posted a picture of my dryer on facebook when I got it. I'm saving $$$ for my matching LG washer and can not wait to get it... really soon!! Enjoy them

I've had mine for several years, first I don't use HE unless its on sale, does it make a difference, um NO. Second, make sure that when you are done your wash you leave the door ajar so it can dry, I've never had a problem. I have king size and its my favorite item in the house. I will never go back. Also mine are on pedastoles so they are higher up, the bottom drawers are filled with missing socks.

do you need to use a special soap to clean them once a month so you don't have mildew I read this somewhere but don't remember what it said?

Tide makes a frontload washing machine cleaner you can buy to use periodically. I haven't used it yet but I bought some the other day. It was like $9.99 and has more than one packet in it so you can wash the washer more than once. The directions say one time per month.

Doesn't that sound funny ?!? LOL!! "wash the washer" LOL!::

I've also heard that to decrease the possibility of mildew or mold...you should leave the washer door open when not using it so it can air out.

If you find the sock pixie that keeps stealing my socks, keep her!

Only advice I have to offer is keep the door to the washer open and let it dry after you are done. If you don't, it will start to smell musty. There is a product called Affresh. You can buy it at Kmart or Sears or wherever. Run one of those tablets through your machine every 2-3 months.

I got my set about a year ago with the pedastals and I love it! I can wash larger loads, the dryer is super efficient and no backache from bending over all the time! Enjoy!!!

That's the one thing I regret~I didn't get the pedestals. But on the upside, I had a piece of our old counter top installed over the top for a folding surface. THAT'S my fav part of the front loaders, !

The musty smell...yep it's problem. Like others said, leave the door open between loads, wipe out the gasket periodically (that can get really nasty) and use less soap than you think. I got that little tip from the washer repair man when he came for the warranty check up. I use a coffee measure which is probably about 1/8 cup, about 2T. Since I started doing that, it's has cut down on the musty smell greatly. Apparently the soap builds up in the drum and the gasket and contributes to the musty smell.

                            Worked for me

                            Congratulations on your new toy!

oh, yes I have found that I use way less soap. Oh and I only use liquid soap, I don't like powder. Also if it starts to stink run bleach in it.
