oh this has been bothering me for over a month now one of my dck has had the green snot pulling on his ear I think poopy diapers and everytime I call or say something they never take him to the dr. I wonder if when his ear falls off they will say oh he had an ear infection. I sent him home twice in the last week and still didn't take him to the dr. I hope you have an easy day today- Flag

sorry read half way through responses, but I have a tendency to forgot my thoughts quickly...
1) there was a huge thing on the news about how parents are over using pain relief on children. Fever is your body fighting whatever is in your system. When a child has a fever, unless it's advised by a dr, you shouldn't give pain med/fever reducer. it just masks the symptoms which make it more difficult for a dr. to diagnose should you need to take to the hospital. If a fever reaches I think it was 103 + then you should be at the hospital.
2) I would simply post a note on the door in case they show up. Sorry, as per contract/policies, child must be 24 hours fever free before returning. I wouldn't be out of bed if I didn't have any other reason to be. They will see note and turn around. Although I would probably want to set up a camera, and see how they react. OR I'd be peaking through a blind..

yup.... I told them that I felt really bad that the child is sick, (their other child was very ill just a few weeks ago with something else and they missed a lot of work). HOwever, I told them that per my PHB and County health Regs. that I could not take their child this morning. They said well we gave her some tylenol and fever has gone down..
So then I repeat myself again free of fever for 24 hours without the aid of medication. I hand them the PHB illness policy (same one I gave them 2 weeks ago) and said. Please understand that I am doing this for the safety of all the children and I hope that you would know that I offer this to your children as well. When another child is ill I don't allow them to attend so that your child does not get affected.
Not too much is said, the brother stays and DCD leaves with DCG. Guess i have to call my client and cancel again and walks out.- Flag

I hate it when they guilt you like that when they're walking out! Yes, it's an inconvenience when their kids cannot attend daycare, but that's why they need to have a reliable backup! The PHB is there for a reason people!
Good for you for standing your ground. My hands shake whenever I have to confront parents. Must be a symptom of my backbone coming in- Flag

It kills me when parents say, "well, there isn't a fever now. It came right down with the tylenol." It isn't a headache! The fever didn't "go away" its just hidden until the tylenol wears off. Still sick!

Perhaps the parents will figure out that a proper diet and a goods night rest will help aid in creating a healthy child.- Flag

Im reading this too late but I would have said,.. yes, tylenol is a great product, I hate the way it makes their pee smell though, dont you? have a great day , see you thursday,...
then she knows you can smell it in their pee, and she hears again thursday is her day to come back.
so now the DCM #1 (child that had fever) is texting me saying well she is eating now and seems happy. I gave her tylenol so her fever went down. So far so good???
Now what? Umm NO, she cant come back until free of fever for 24 hours without the aid of medication.... I hate conflict and I hate this part of my job......- Flag

BTW I loved your idea of posting the note on the front door and then peering out...LMAO that would have been funny...
I actually have 5 other kids so I had to get up.- Flag
