do you have free cycle in your area? I live in a small town, but near a big city. It is a site that is formed to prevent useful items ending up in the land fill. I have given great things from this and I have gotten great things from this site ALL for FREE. All you have to do is go to google and type in free cycle see if they have a group in your area. If so sign up for an account and they post a wanted listing.
I have seen some great stuff being offered in my area. It all goes really quick, so you have to be up on top of it, but I usually just post a wanted listing if I need something.
A few months back we were really short on art supplies and I had no money left in our DC funds, so i posted a wanted listing and OH boy I got a full box of great paper, paint (big bottles) glue, pipe cleaners, a ton of stuff. It was all good too, no junk
