Preparing for IVF with Home Daycare

So I started the daycare again so I could work from home come the time if we can get pregnant via IVF. I only keep babies 0-24months.

So I spend about an hour and a half at night doing daycare stuff after the kids are gone. I had this same problem the last 4 yrs there is so much to do if you do it right. From advertising, book work, cleaning, etc. I can't do that once I have a baby or even during part of pregnancy. Due to family time and just exhaustion.

So my question is, Any Daycare moms choose to get an assistant to help you through the pregnancy and birth? Possibly even cover a third or half the day so you can sleep in after the baby is born, take a nap mid day, or even just do back office work during daycare hours so you would be done for the day when hubby gets home?

I have 4 infants and that is my self imposed max. It will cut into my income but I see it as income and essentially a part time nanny/help for my own kiddo. Better than shutting down daycare me bringing in no income and paying a babysitter to get breaks in.

Any advice on any combinations that you all worked out to build in needed rest time etc. FYI we are building a back office in the yard so hubby can work from home and I can sneak away for naps or quiet time when I get an assistant. I know not getting consistent sleep is going to have me cracking, so I need to prepare for it well before hand. Thanks guys.

How often and when you use your assistant is dependent on what state you are in.

For example, some states do not allow you to leave an assistant alone with the children and can only act as an assistant to you (the provider) while you are present.
    Other states have different rules.

What state are you in? Are you licensed/registered/certified or legally unlicensed?

When you say 4 infants, do you include your own in the ratio or you have 4 infants now with no assistant and plan to add your own infant so you and an assistant will care for 5 infants?

Have you undergone the IVF process before or is this the first time? I have a DCM I am close to that has conceived using IVF. It's definitely a tough and emotional road.

I am state Licensed in Texas. My kid would take a spot so I am only going to care for 3 other infants. Texas does allow an assistant to supervise when you are gone. After certain conditions are met of course.

Hubby encouraged me to get into Yoga or something relaxing and to keep me in shape and destress through the pregnancy and after. So this also covers maybe a yoga class, grocery shopping etc. I am essentially a stay at home mom running a daycare.

Thinking morning time have someone to open the daycare for a few hrs because that is my hardest time to get up and I know it will be after the baby.

Yes I have heard horror stories about how hard IVF is so that is why I am considering an assistant ready to go before we start IVF. Also during pregnancy in case I end up with twins.

Side note the main reason I am going through all this trouble is we both believe the environment that I have for my kiddoes is best for our own. That from the get go our little one will have built in playmates and have to learn the independence that most daycare kids learn really fast.

There is no way I want to schedule that many play dates to get enough play time in with other kids to come remotely close to the experience my kid would have in the daycare.

So even though at the end of it I may net enough to just strictly pay for our little one college fund, savings, food, clothes etc. It could be worth it if set up correctly.

Well, it sounds like an assistant would be an ideal situation for you! I wouldn't hesitate to hire one at all. Especially for the reasons you mentioned... just to be able to be less stressed and more relaxed.

I would consider the budget more than anything at this point considering the IVF process can be such a tough road. MY DCM tried IVF unsuccessfully for 6 years before finally giving birth to her first. Her and her hubby are currently pregnant with baby #2 (oldest is almost 3) after 4 more failed attempts.

I guess my point is that you really need to decide when (during pregnancy, during the process to get pregnant or after birth etc) that you want to have an assistant. Unless you are considering just having one the whole time as each stage has different times in which one would/could be very useful. I suppose at that point it simply comes down to whether you can afford to have one that long or not.

I don't know..I wish I had better advice. I'm just trying to consider every angle as I have never been in your position before but wanted to add my two cents.

Black cat thank you. Yeah I am trying to look at it from all angles. Plus there may be something I am missing that you all can shed light on.

We have no family local so our support network will have to be paid either way. This may be a long term thing to help with just life! Each stage in child development and parenting has it's struggles.

I don't know if this is helpful, but I'm currently pregnant and I have a sub lined up. She'll do just about everything after baby comes, with the exception of meal prep and closing (I'll cover that for about a half hour). I have her scheduled for a month and I may extend that to part time/scheduled time so I can have some built-in breaks. For me, it was worth knowing I could take an extended leave. I won't be making anything, but I know I'll come back to the program I worked hard to set up. I'll also have enough coming in to cover food and most bills. Like you, I designed it to be a program I would want my own kids to attend.

For what is worth, I was having some health issues before I got pregnant and worried what it would be like to be pregnant and caring for kids (I have 8 all over the age of 2). Every pregnancy is super different, but I swear that staying active with the kids is what has made my pregnancy a breeze. That and prenatal yoga (I didn't do yoga before, and it has been a game changer). I'm 30 weeks now and I feel relatively great. I hope that same happens for you.

Since I have appointments every few weeks (and they are getting closer together) I do have a sub come in for that. I find the time away helps me re-energize. Getting out of the house every now and then is important for me. When I wasn't pregnant I would schedule things with friends in the evening, but I get tired and that isn't as realistic post-baby.

              Best of luck to you!

I function very poorly on a lack of sleep. I made my husband my assistant when my daughter was an infant and I would take a nap during their nap time often. I had 10 kids (ages 2-5) and my infant.
It would DEFINITELY be worth the money for you to do this! It also wouldn't be forever.

Both of my children (currently ages 20 and 13) are IVF babies. I was doing daycare in my home during the time we went through IVF. I hired a sub to be with the daycare children during my regular office visits, and the egg retrieval. I closed for the embryo transfer and a week after that, just to relax and have peace of mind. I also took 12 weeks for maternity leave with each of my babies (my daycare was closed, no subs). I didn't lose any parents through any of those closures, but I do live in an area where it is extremely hard to find childcare, so YMMV. Imagine if you had any other job, what time would you take off then? That's what you should do here. Best of luck to you!

If you feel like you can afford the time and the money, does your doctor do single embryo transfer? Some moms can't carry twins full term, and the nicu is full of preemie multiples.

Best of luck to you on this journey! I hired a teacher for part of my pregnancy to cover appointments. She started working full time for me when I was 37 weeks pregnant and covered full time for almost 4 months. She still works for me, 1-1/2 days/ week, which gives me baby time and time to get things done.
