I grew up where guns are seen more than cars.

I hate guns, they are not toys. They kill people. We live in the city where there is NO reason for you to own a gun. If parents want to teach their child about guns, that's on them.

I refuse to allow that kind of play. We are peaceful loving beings. We don't hurt anything or anyone including ourselves.

I don't mind good guy bad guy. It teaches children how to stand up for others and be the hero.

I would just redirect the play. Depending on the age of he child would determine how I would approach this.

I played with BB guns, cherry bombs, stink bombs and cap guns as a young kid. It was what you did in the late '70's.

I loved seeing and hearing the explosions, smelling the spent caps and seeing the smoke. I agonized on how to make the dud's work again. It wasn't about killing, it was about the science. I just did not know it yet. ::

Maybe some kids are about the "good vs evil", just not all of them.

Launching the little rockets is way more exciting that the 2 seconds of pulling the BB gun trigger. Pouring vinegar into the volcano and watching the eruption and ooze flow is a pretty close second to the now illegal (here) cherry bombs. ::

Some other cool science website.. smoke bombs.

For those of you who couldn’t join us on Facebook this week (@spanglerscience), we’ve been working hard to provide fun and amazing at home experiences to those who have been impacted by the current events.

      - Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.

I grow up similar. But we didn't have the over the top, gun killing, head chopping, blood oozing video games like kids have today. They see things they shouldn't and get ideas. Worst part. It's called a GAME.

I love the science aspects but children won't understand how science equates to guns and violence. I think it's a great way to redirect their interest.
