Advertising in The Form of Donations- Tacky?

Since you mentioned coloring books...Dollar General has some (Frozen, Little Mermaid, etc.) for $1 and $2 that you "scan" the colored picture with your phone and it makes an animated character pop up on the screen. A student brought it for Show and Tell and Mom shared where she purchased it from. Might be neat for the kiddos in isolation!

I have my name on the back of tshirts, along with many other local businesses for a local girl who passed away from cancer. There was a minimum donation to help with the charity, only businesses could donate to help with the cost of the shirts, it is very tasteful. Many of my dc parents bought the shirts (not from me, from the charity for fundraising for her family).- Flag

I've worked for many big companies and I don't see any difference in making a donation with your business name on it. Heck, most of the businesses I worked for included numerous business cards and flyers for advertisement along with our donation to set by it. You work with children and you are making a donation to children, it couldn't be more perfect. You are doing it because you care and I would definitely include you daycare children in this. Could you maybe have them draw or color pictures or cards for the kid's in the hospital too? Or a care package?- Flag

I'm torn on this. I have donated children's books to the library and had them put in stickers with my daycare name on it. I've done those dollar signs, donating to different causes that they put up in grocery store windows on occasion and put my dc name on it. I don't really see it as tacky per se, but like someone said, grasping maybe?
We all have our own opinions and that's mine. But I'm not sure, it could be received differently depending on who sees it and how they take it.
If you don't need to actively advertise maybe just give anonymously or ask the person who is running this thing.- Flag

News flash! Childcare providers are small business owners and are allowed to make their donation known. It would be more than appropriate for a business that cares for children to donate and label their contribution with their business name. It is a formality, not tacky at all.- Flag

First, I think adding your telephone number in the ad is perfectly fine; however I do see that a few people disagree with that- So, for those that disagree, would adding your website address instead of your phone number be better you think?

~I totally agree with this, and the parts I bolded above are excellent...You bring up some exceptional points! -OT- Another good example of advert/donating I think would be 'Boxtops for education'(I lovelovethis clipping
!).
"You work with children and you are making a donation to children, it couldn't be more perfect"
~Again, excellent point, brilliant actually! I also like the idea of bringing the children into this and using it as a teaching moment
.
In most cases it is the charity who reaches out to the businesses for help, not the other way around...Is it better in that case that they refuse:confused: you think? To each his own I guess, but I'm just glad that they're helping...period.
So it's only tacky if a small business owner labels their contribution with their business name? But not if a big corporation does it? I don't see anything wrong with a business putting their name on a well meaning donation. People like seeing people giving back and I don't think anyone is making a donation out of the hopes that it'll put money in their pocket but it is good for reputation, especially if you can get the kids involved.

~Again, outstanding points!
"People like seeing people giving back.."
~^This^ exactly! People lovethislovelovethis seeing others, especially those who they deem as successful, giving back to the community. Now there may be one or 2 folks here & there that do not like to see it...you'll have that as there is no such thing as "everyone" or "always" and the like, but in general this type of giving back is seen as favorable.
I have included some quotes below on the subject that I like and think are appropriate for this situation.
"One of the great privileges of running a small business is being able to give generously to community organizations and charitable causes that matter to you"
"Every day, small business owners share their success by giving money, products, volunteer hours and charitable outreach efforts to good causes in their communities"
"By supporting a charity, your business is spreading the word about your values and intentions.."
