I had a first time mom years ago tell me that when I feed her baby I should lift my shirt and hold him skin to skin because she had heard that was a great way to bond with your baby! Umm, I said for YOU to bond with YOUR baby....not me. I'm NOT lifting my shirt for anyone one!- Flag

I've only been doing daycare for less than a year, and I am loving it, minus the empty spaces I want to fill. It's just not the time of year here. I've got deposits placed for a month and a half from now, and people waiting for June to call back and see if there are openings. Apparently everyone gets jiggy with it at the same time, cause all the moms are gonig back to work at the same time in the same months.
Sometimes Ivt it's just good to pretend. Have a bath in the dark with candles, and crank some music up. If you have hubby/children of your own, kick them out for 2 hours, and just relax. If you're alone, close the blinds and jump up and down on the couch eating pizza naked (if you watch king of queens you'll understand this)- Flag

damn it I cant eat any dairy.......
I know what you mean though...this job is so much fun, but it does take a toll on you...I work over 80 hours a week and I also offer a free Parents night out once a month to all of my families.....I teach so I spend a lot of time planning my days....
I was not able to kick everone out the other day, husband said he was too tired to take the kids anywhere, so he treated me to an 1.5 hour massage....he doesnt know this yet though....lmao- Flag

I have been around for a very long time just never posted my comments. I have been a part of Daycare.com for years. I have not only found numerous comments made by parents in the form of jabs at us providers but deal with them on an every day basis. What I meant was really quite tame but printed it poorly. I meant don't get all ruffled up on Ohio daycare as she has her opinion and the right to voice it. It is not venting on any one person but just finally having a place where we as providers can finally say what we want to say but never has a place to say it. It is not in a nasty way but we hear about we can hear from parents and never judge and just take it and now it is our turn. Nothing out of rudeness or spite just in general. Have you seen parents and guardians today? I meant as a group of people we have a right to say it as it is once in a while and i was just standing up for Ohio who was saying actual things that parents say. And yes, they are funny. If you can't laugh once in a while....- Flag

Oh I think this is all in good fun. We've all been there done that. Good to blow off steam.
Me to DCM at 3:23 pm: L is due for a bottle soon. She last ate at 11:30.
DCM: So she's due for a bottle in 7 mins?!?! But I can't get home and in the house in 7 mins, nevermind prepare her bottle. I can't believe you're so off schedule! <Storms away>
Same mom in enrollment paperwork: What would you like your baby to gain from this daycare experience? To play with other kids and learn to share attention. - At termination: "You are always putting other kids needs before my child. She's not a wallflower. She needs your complete and unabated attention".
DCM of 2yo DCB: Did you teach J to go backwards down the stairs?
Me: Yes, he needs to be able to get out the fire exit on his own, without my help. He's not steady or tall enough to walk down without assistance yet.
DCM: Don't let him do that anymore. I want him to hold your hand and walk down the stairs. We always do this and I don't want him regressing.
I could go on but I won't.- Flag

Good day to you as well Crystal,

I get that there are parents out there who get under your skin....fortunately I haven't had one in years. But, this is our career. We chose to do this. If we want to gossip about parents, and really feel so resentful of them that it is regularly aired on a public forum, then, perhaps, we shouldn't be working with families. Venting is fine, but I think it more wise to speak to the parents face to face about our issues, rather than let them fester to the point that there are multiple negative posts about them, on a daily basis.
Now, that being said, AGAIN, I think this thread is fine....it's a "funny" thread, not a "gossip about parents thread." But, I'd still be careful what you say, if you don't want your parents to find out. The internet can be a scary place- Flag

I hate giving meds. The ONLY time I give them is if the child qualifies under the disability act and I have to provide meds so they can access my program. I do not give meds for any other reason than these.
I can't remember the last time I gave a med.- Flag

Well, in keeping with the actual topic of this thread..I have a good one! First time mom-breastfed her baby but supplemented with bottles at daycare. Had the breastflow bottles and wanted me to only use those. Well this baby was VERY fussy, and was not feeding well for me. this was going on for about a month. Well one day, she was not eating from those bottles so thinking "she's is hungry and needs to eat" I used a bottle that I had here that was the exact same nipple as the nuk the baby was using, and she drank the whole bottle down- no problem. Well I made the mistake of telling her this at pick up and she was mad. She said it's going to totally mess up her breastfeeding and that she would rather her just not eat than use the other nipples. Omg! Let the screaming, hungry, colicky baby starve? And I have to deal with that? Right. This mom actually termed over this. She'll learn. Oh well!~Everything happens for a reason~- Flag

I never give tylenol or anbesol for teething. I keep one container of advil and tylenol for quick onset fevers over 103 because I have had a couple of kids have febrile seizures in my career. I can go YEARS in between having to give meds for that.
