First Time Moms And Dads- Funny Things They Say And /Or Have You Do!!

I have to think of all the things that first time parents have done or have you do, or say to you-
    Let's see-
First time Mom brought 5 bottles, and wanted me to use all 5 of them in one daycare day, then she was going to sterilize them each night.
Only brought 5 diapers a day, and brought these everyday. I told her I need more of these left here, in a box, and I will let her know when they run low.
Same Mom brought baby wipes in a tiny ziploc bag daily(ony about 5 or 6 in there daily) I finally told the Mom she needed to bring a plastic cont. with wipes and I will place baby's name on them, and she needed to bring more diapers, she finally did both of them. I repeatingly asked and asked for both of these everyday!!
Wouldn't allow her baby to sleep anywhere but in the swing right next to me all day long!
Only allow her colicky son to sleep for one hr. during his naps! HA! SHe wanted me to wake him up after an hr. each nap!
Brought diaper cream for any folds baby had, to make sure her folds in her neck, arms, and other places didn't get red!
I have had 2 parents now, that wouldn't allow any Tylenol or anbesol for teething! Even though both children were miserable!
Now what do you do with our baby when you are fixing dinner for the other children??
You don't let a baby sit in a pack and play do you?
What do you do with a baby when it cries?
This is all I can think of now! I am sure I will think of some other good ones

First time mom of a 6 week old baby who needed care for when she went back to work when baby was 12 weeks:

"You don't shake them do you?"

Btw, I still have the girl and she's now 11.

Seriously, I thought this was a support forum for daycare providers?? I am continually shocked at the apparent contempt some providers feel for parents. If I were a parent who stumbled upon this forum I would be appalled at the judgment that gets passed around.

I understand that we all need to blow off steam every now and then, but I have a real bad taste in my mouth when threads get started just to make fun of people.

I had a first time mom years ago tell me that when I feed her baby I should lift my shirt and hold him skin to skin because she had heard that was a great way to bond with your baby! Umm, I said for YOU to bond with YOUR baby....not me. I'm NOT lifting my shirt for anyone one!

Kendallina, lighten up and let it go. We put up with people like you and all of your comments. It's our turn to bring everything back into perspective and have a laugh instead of lashing out like you are doing. Get a grip.

I had a mom tell me not to put her two year old down for a nap so that she could go to bed as soon as they got home every day. I asked if she was finding it hard to find time to spend with her that way? She replied, no, after all I drive her here every day then drive her home again.

I don't think the point is to make fun...it's simply sharing those things that frustrate us about parents. Let's get real here- sometimes they say/ do things that we want to share- for support and a mutual laugh. We're just 'talking shop' as the boys say, and it's not meant to be mean in spirit. You are right though, it's probably best not to make fun of your bread and butter.

Not sure what you meant by "people like you and all of your comments" as Kendallina has aways been well-spoken here and is a great contributor on this forum. Perhaps you should stick around awhile and get to know her before making comments like that.

This thread in particular does not seem to be out of line, but I can see where Kendallina may have thought it was by her first impression, as there have been COUNTLESS snide jabs about parents, made by providers on this forum. So, I see where she was coming from, she just latched onto this thread because it was the latest example.

                          Good day

                            I agree with Kendallina.....

Sometimes steam does need to be let off, and sometimes it's just fun to do it, but I also think, it needs to be tasteful. Sometimes you want to say things that maybe you shouldn't. You also need to think about whether or not it might be possible that the person you are posting about will see this (likely not, but pretend) and if they will know it's you, then it's in your best interest to keep it zipped.

until I found this site I thought I was the only one going through this!!!
I am so glad we can post like this and read what others are going through!
Daycare can be very isolating sometimes and I am so grateful for the wonderful providers on this site!!!

and besides parents would never complain about us... right???
