I am so guilty of it with myself. I say things all of the time.

with the kids, I just try to teach them to focus on other people great qualities. after all, no one is perfect and pick out someones faults is not fair.

I just teach the kids to be confident. the girl that I spoke about that has weight issues in my care had an issue for a bit about her arms. she wanted to wear long sleeve even in the 100 temp we were having. when her parents told me i was so sad. So I told them i would take care of it. Every day my staff and I would always comment on how wonderful or pretty her shirt/dress/ outfit was. We commented on how pretty her hair was and how smart she was. We would point out to the kids, oh wow did you see gabriel's long curly beautiful hair today, shes looks prettier than usual today. next think you know all of the other girls are trying to look just like her with their hair. moms are coming in saying since gabby has her hair this way now my daughter wants it this way too. no one in my dc has ever brought it up ang gabby is a very confident and secure little girl.

when we did our about me papers she wrote one word that describes herself, she wrote pretty... put the biggest smile on my face and her parents. we pay no mind to that kind of stuff. it is what you make of it. my sister is very over weight, but one of the most beautiful people I know. I don't see her as over weight, I only see her as smart and a leader. She is the one who points out her weight.
