    Seriously???

So I had a DCG for three weeks. I have posted about her here. Mom has been tough to get on board with the whole daycare thing, because she is young blah blah. Anyway after three weeks I finally have DCG almost sleep trained. She was just screaming all nap time, now she sleeps for an hour.

DCM just came by and said "Well I wanted to let you know DCG will not be with you tomorrow, I found someone who will provide care for $30 a week.". Mom's work schedule varies, but DCG doesn't come until 1 PM here, dad lives a block away and was dropping off on way to his second shift job. Mom doesn't work later than 7 PM, but was picking up some days at 5 some days at 6:30. Mom will now be dropping off in the morning when she goes to work, so longer hours. Since I am still trying to get going, I was only charging her $70 a week. Low for the area, the going rate is $20 day. So I lost my ONLY full time kiddo. I am down to my two before and after school kiddos, who will be full time this summer.

Who does care that cheap? Especially for a 13 month old? And what parent doesn't question that price?? I told DCM that I would have to send the apartment complex that she had me fill out paperwork for a copy of the temination notice, because it is subsidized housing and it will lower her rent. She told me she would have the new "provider" (really a SAHM, working for super cheap) fill one out. But I am sending it anyway, because I signed a paper.

I am frustrated, I need families, good, long term, serious families. Maybe I shouldn't have stood up for and enforced my policies with this mom, but really I need to.

    I guess I am venting, I dunno.

Good lord.... You put in all the work to get the baby settled and then the mom goes and messes it all up. I'm betting the new place won't last. Who does it for that cheap?? Unless she has 20 kids packed in there?

You're totally right to notify the apartment complex. If your name is on it and you don't report that she's left your care, it could fall back on you if she's ever investigated.

Who does it that cheap is a mom who is watching the kid of one of the coworkers of mom. She is totally unlicensed (as am I legally), but even though I am not on the food program I was in Kansas, and I still serve foods based on those standards, and follow licensing standards. I am just cheaper here because I am legally unlicensed, and that saves me some money. Such as I can do all my trainings by reading books, free online etc and not have to pay for any and such.

I guess I am just frustrated because A.I have worked so hard with DCG and B. I really need the money.

        I'm sorry.

I know it's difficult but families that you have to continuously enforce your policies with are not ones you want long term.

Do you enjoy the SA? Maybe put your feelers out for families who need summer care?

And keep advertising. The good families are out there!

It stinks. This happens occasionally and it doesn't really get easier. Something you may want to think about is if dcm wants to bring dcg back in the future if her new care situation doesn't work out. I've had it happen more than once a family leaves for cheaper care and then I get a call asking if the kids can come back.

One family who left 15 months ago is hinting at summer care for their 2 kids. They're on their 4th care provider since they left me. Other providers here have similar stories.

I am considering SA care for summer, and have ads on facebook and such. I don't hate SA kids, I do hate mixing groups, but I have two SA right now that will be here all day in the summer so adding to that group with no littles won't be an issue. I ran an ad in the paper for five days, no hits from it. I am thinking that between now and May 20, everyone will hit the "on crap school is getting out" mode. It is just frustrating. DH already told me mom will be calling me back. He may be right. I told DH a SAHM charging that much is going to be a problem for moms, she is going to want time off, going to want to take DCG with her places (DCM does not want her in someone else's car), things like that I am sure. She has no contract and no handbook so I can see things going south fast KWIM?

No but I had a deposit equal to a weeks care, and a prepayment for this week, so I did get my two weeks pay. And she didn't argue with me about that, so I guess that washes out.
