The canopy bed? That was my Christmas gift a few years back.

Yes, he made the entire bed...frame and all. Well he didn't make the mattress... LOL!

The issue I have is the gates have to go on the first step of a staircase, one side on a wall, the other side is a log staircase railing (we live in a log home). It's difficult to get something sturdy in, which is partly why the dck's who are 1.5 can shake it lose.

The ones that bolt in might work ... If DH let's me do that to the railing.

My husband built our playroom gate, he found instructions online and it's basically like the bottom half of a farmhouse door. He ended up screwing a board into the wall before installing the gate for extra sturdiness.

I have a metal swinging latch gate that is bracketed to the doorframe separating my kitchen from the playroom. I teach the kids, too, that they are not allowed to even touch it, as early as just crawling age. With consistency, they understand boundaries.
