My daycare room has a big picture window and you can see when parents pull up. I don't know why it bothers me but it does. I have a daycare dad who will sit in front of the daycare talking on his cell phone for 15 or 20 minutes when his son can see him through the window he crys gets upset and I just tell him it's ok daddy will be in to get you in a minute. I hate when he talks on the phone for 20 minutes and waits in the car until the last minute until I close . Would it bother you? Would you take the kid out to him? Would you say anything or let it go? I just feel like you need to get your kid and go so the next parent can park and come in. It's just rude!

I am very verbal about that too. ESPECIALLY if their child is old enough to see them.- Flag

"DCD, as soon as you pull into the driveway you need to come in and get dcb."
If you really feel like telling him why he needs to then I'd tell him what you said... it disrupts his child's day to see him outside AND (and this would be the biggest reason for me) he's blocking the freaking driveway.- Flag

Most of mine 'run out the clock' sitting on the public street outside my yard.
Annoying? Yes. The kids notice and wonder why their parent is not coming.
I tell the parents. Does it change? Not one single time so far
It kind of seems like nothing works anymore unless there is a dollar sign attached. And sometimes that doesn't even work- Flag

Ugh, I had one like that too. She would even come in on her phone and sign thank you to me and leave. Then she would call to ask about dcb's day, later.
I eventually would just talk normally or a little louder when she was here and on her phone. So annoying! She is no longer a dcp here, but in the future, I would definitely say something!- Flag

My property is for my personal and daycare use only.
"Hey Jim Bob, please use my driveway for drop offs and pick ups only. It is really disruptive to our day if you linger here for any other reason. Thank you for being so understanding! "- Flag

You might want to try and call the DCD while he is sitting in the driveway.
Most cell phones have call waiting. I would call until he answered and tell him you can see him, as can his son and that he needs to hang up and come in.- Flag

I would just tell him plainly that he needs to come in when he pulls into the driveway because his son can see him through the window and does not understand why daddy isn't coming in. THANKS! If he did not comply, I would get the kids coat on and walk him out to the car.- Flag

I would definitely let dcd know that it upsets his child to see him out there and you need your driveway space for pick-ups, not loitering. Geez, if he wants to sit and talk on his cell he could just park at the local McD's or Walmart and wait to pick up at the last second. Or even better, how 'bout picking ds up at that time and spend that extra 20 minutes with him??!!- Flag
