Have You Ever Done a Drive By....

    ....of potential clients for daycare?

I do it when a person is interested in a rental property of mine. I check to see if they take care of their current place when I consider them as a possible tenant. I wonder if I should apply this to daycare too.

    Thoughts anyone? Pros & cons?

no, not sure what the benefit would be.

what do you gain from this? Just curious?

Other than the stalker factor... , how would YOU feel if parents did the same to you?

If you don't mind, then I think doing a drive-by to check up on them is fair game.

Personally, I kind of feel like that would be judging a book by it's cover as I KNOW some of my best parents/families are horrible at lawn care and up-keep on their vehicles.

fwiw~ I totally understand wanting/needing to know that kind of information as a landlord but I don't see how being a good lawn mower or landscaper has anything to do with being a good daycare parent.

          funny you say drive by

many years ago my best girl wanted to drive by her boy friends house to see if he was telling the truth. SHE was lets say CRAZY.. So she would say lets do a drive by and check in on Alex..

Some time later, I was at a friends family BBQ. Someone was talking about a drive by that happened (by a gang) down the street from their house.

I didn't get it and I say out loud, I used to do drive-bys all the time with my best friend. Yeah it was the most uncomfortable silence and all eyes on me before one of my friends who knew my BF started to bust up laughing.

          I don't do drive bys....

not on cyber space or the real world. I like to take people for face value.

I don't go looking for things that I don't really want to find.

            Yay.....I get it.
If someone is taking pride and care of their home, it reflects their character and what they value, and can also express their interest in their children and where they raise them.
I mean....that may not apply to everybody, but for the most part, I bet it does.
The problem, It'd be just at the moment of my driving by to take a peek that they'd come out of their house and find me spying.
            So drive by incognito! .....::.......

I've never done a drive by, well one potential client lives a few streets over and I've walked by and looked.

I've wanted to drive by my current families houses before. I'm not sure why, because like bc said, their lawn care has nothing to do with childcare, but I guess out of curiosity. I've haven't done it yet and probably won't. With my luck they would see me...

I do look for them on FB though.

I am sure many parents do a drive by when they get a providers address .

but I think that is different.

I would expect parents to drive by the home daycare before enrolling. I would,

I would check to see if it looks safe, do they have crazy people living next door that I may have to encounter one day

how do they care for their house, may speak about how they care about their DC.

I actually admire the parents that take the time to check me out, and do a drive by my home. Because I can totally relate, and would be doing exactly the same before I scheduled an appointment with them to care for my children.

no way. I hate driving. I wouldn't waste a car trip on that. I don't care about their home.

Yes! I have one dcb who, well let's just say, he's not the cleanest child. But the parents don't care if he eats in the car and has it all over his face and hands and clothes-they laugh about it, if he has long nails, long unkempt hair. I think that's just the way they are... they look clean though. I would love to see what their house looks like inside.
