So when I said that may not apply to everybody, but for the most part, I bet it does, I'm referring to people putting their own character into their property, which a lot of people like to do, that's why we have The Home Depot and Lowes.
If I drove by a yard that had heaps of trash, un-kept, falling down structures, just a mess, I would honestly wonder if there could possibly be issues, and along with other family/provider compatibility would have to take this into consideration for a perspective family as clients.
That's why I drive by potential a tenant's house. I have a big investment, I do not want it trashed out. I also think about the past parents I had problems with in my DC. I often wonder how they live & would it have been a clue. I definitely check them out online. Maybe a Google drive by is the next step for me..., for now! ::

I fb stalk and do a Google search on any prospective families. It has saved me from some crazies. I do look at realty pictures on the Web of current families and fb stalk a little out of curiosity. They come in to my home twice a day every day and see everything.....ds with his pants at his ankles asking for help, dd's emotional first week of school, Dh mowing the lawn. They get a clear view of my life and after spending so much time with the kids I want to get a glimpse into theirs. It's nice to see the tree in the yard they saw the monster dinosaur spider and see that dcm puts up cute flags for the holidays. I like to see the fb pictures with the binkie in the mouth when dcm swears she threw them all out. It's harmless and I'm sure they fb stalk me too. I don't mind.

Is it strange that whenever I read the title for this thread, I hear it sung to the tune of
Did You Ever See a Lassie (go this way and that?) :: :: ::

After dealing with my DCD that turned out to be a convicted child rapist......I cyber stalk as much as I possible can.

As soon as somebody emails or calls me, I check them out best I can. FB, local arrests etc etc. I have found out things over the past few years that I am sure have saved me heartache later down the road.

I've found prospective parents on sex offender lists...those with long criminal records etc. Even small things like a parents posting on FB that they can't pay their bills that week or have just quit their third job in as many months etc...have sent up red flags for me and I think I dodged a bullet.

I know parents check me out all they can. So I don't feel bad in the slightest. I want to know who is coming into my home. Anyone can APPEAR to be the nicest person ever at interview or on the phone.

I feel the same way. I am lucky in a way. As DH knows everyone who has ever came to our daycare of knows of them. We live in a very small town so I know where everyone lives.
