I really don't think DCD was trying to pacify dcg, but to make her "pay" for a new toaster by giving up her's at home. We see it from the aspect of now dcg has a replacement toy but I really don't think parents think the same way (dad at least, mom sounds like a piece of work).

I don't like that he asked to see the broken one but I bet that was mom talking. I probably would have just told him I threw it away because it was broken and unsafe for the children to use. And I would take the new toaster and put it out of toy rotation for a while but I do think dcd had good intentions with making the child replace the item she broke.
      Yes, I am!
What bothers me is that he not only insisted on seeing the item, but questioned DD on how it could have possibly happened - essentially forcing her to explain *yet again* how it happend and demonstrate to boot! It just doesn't sit well with me. I'll say it again, like attracts like - I've rarely had dcp's that weren't similar in thought and temprement - for better or worse! ::

        Update!

I put all the kitchen items away that evening. The "new" toaster is put in storage and will not come back out when dcg is here. Dcm picked up and asked how her day was (it was fine) and specifically asked about any time outs. (none) I asked if she needed any clarification on my discipline policy ( no). It was very short/ rushed.

Then I got an email informing me that dcg will be starting UPK in fall. They didn't give a formal notice. This was after just last month dcm & Dcd said they are keeping dcg here until K. They either lied OR they don't have a UPK spot because registration ended 5/1 for sept and it's already full. I gave them notice today for mid-August. Pickup will be awkward!!!

I have a temporary family filling in a space until a new kid starts in August. Temp family wants a long term space, so there will be zero income loss from this unless they pull sooner, which is fine by me!!

Well that went exactly where we thought it would! Good luck to the upk teachers... When does upk start? After your term date? Did you tell them why?

Wow, they're pulling her over a toaster that SHE broke? You're better off without them. So they didn't give you a definite day that would be her last? Is that what you mean when you said you wrote back giving them notice for mid-August? Great that you won't have a loss in income with a new client.

No the email was similar to:

Just wanted to give you a heads up that Susie will be going to UPK in fall.

UPK starts the second week of Sept, and I have them notice for when *I* need their space 8/15 (or have to let temporary client go).

So they either lied and had her registered already OR they're lying about her having a space now and are looking for another prek option or bluffing to me grovel (never going to happen). Either way, sayonara!!

Are you going to ask them?

                  I would.

Just for the sole purpose of making them uncomfortable.

Exactly. If nothing else, make them squirm trying to answer. I would say something like "Oh, I guess I was surprised after you said that she wouldn't be going until next year and also because I know the registration has ended and they're full". squirm squirm squirm

I was toasted when I heard that dcg was able To get into UPK. I tried my hardest to get my niece in but I was told the spots had been filled with a 20 student wait list since May.

Wondering how you guys were able to pull that off. How wonderful!
