Last time we got together, she showed up in the car with her ipad attached to a frame on the back of dad's seat. She can watch whatever she wants and control the games, etc. Attached to her car seat was a tray with foods for her to snack on during the trip. Food, entertainment...all they need is an attached potty, and they won't have to talk to her the whole trip!!
The change in car seats tells the tale too...

I remember buying my DD her car seat and it was just a car seat. Nothing else.

Now they have built in DVD players, cup holders, i-pad holders, snack holders, crayon cups, writing trays, clips, bungees, umbrella straps, net bags, wet wipe clips, rattle holders, teethers.....

I was interviewing a family that needed me to care for their 3 month old and we were discussing drop-offs and pick-ups and I said that they could drop off at the front door ( meaning not come all the way inside and make it a big event every morning) well they thought I meant just drop off the baby outside the front door and asked if it was in the winter if I would get the baby right away because she would get cold- seriously?

"Sorry, careful can you grab her. I'll be right back" followed soon by "Where would you like me to put these?"

Ok so I was really new and too stunned to say anything. Dad walked in with vomit soaked daughter in fully extended arms, trying to keep her from touching him in any way. I'm attempting to remove her clothes and comfort distraught child. He comes back in with vomit soaked car seat and toys and asks where to put them. Dumbfounded I'm responding back "Where would I like you to put THOSE????" To which he wanders off muttering about how he certainly can't handle the drive to work with the smell of them in the car and how bad the car would smell by the end of the day, then oh crap I'm going to be late - and was gone.

Door clicks, and it starts to click in to me just how wrong this all is. Then I see red when I find the car seat in the kitchen by the sink, and the vomit drenched toys on the kitchen right where I was prepping breakfast for all. ewwwww

Of course it was just "spit up". Gosh I would hate to see what occurs when that kid actually pukes then.

On my daily schedule it shows scheduled bathroom/diaper change breaks every 1 1/2 -2 hours. During and interview I had a parent ask "so a child who had a poopy diaper would have to wait for two hours to get changed?!"

Yes, drop all the kids on the front porch and when I have had my morning tea, I will pop out and gather them all in!! Good grief!

I get the "such and such is a holiday and my job is closed so you will have the day off!" Yep that is in my contract. If YOU don't work, I don't work! This is after her trying to sneak those days past me for the entire first year and leave the kids here anyway. I am NOT stupid LOL.

I guess my favorite would be " I didn't know you were going to be mad over not getting paid for 6 weeks. I just assumed as long as I paid you at some point you were ok with it!" REALLY? Would YOU be ok with your job not paying you for 6 weeks? This was the same day I told this particular mom to take a hike and not bring her kid back effective immediately!

Some of these parents TRULY think that we don't need the money. They see us as "lucky" SAHM's who get to spend the day lounging and watching a few kids for some money for extras (vacations, new cars, etc.). They just can't understand that we are doing this to support our families-I mean, only people with "real" jobs NEED the money!

Yep! This particular mom would make comments like "I would love to sit home with my kids all day but I want better things for my kids." (ummm I really hope you don't mean better than I have LOL. You live in a trailer, I live in a nice big house with 11 acres of land, etc.) I had multiple problems with her and when I quit I spelled it out very clearly to her why. She then left me a voice mail telling me that if I needed a break from daycare she understood but she really did think I would be ok with her paying me just whenever she wanted.

When I was working at the factory, I had a provider once ask "Can you just drop the kids off and bring them in to the living room so I don't have to get up this early every morning"? I said NO WAY!!!! Needless to say she didn't last long
