oh, there are so many....the request to force feed the 14 month old 3 8 oz bottles of milk every day stands out ( i was supposed to HOLD HER and HOLD THE BOTTLE IN HER MOUTH until she finished it each time). and the request for the 8 month old to wear her snow suit outside on a balmy 75 degree day. and the ones who signed the photo release but added in a stipulation "as long as she is fully clothed and the photos won't be used inappropriately":confused::confused: oh, and the parents who wanted to potty train their daughter the DAY she turned 2 and bring her in underwear from then on (child took until she was 3.5 to potty train...and trained in a week WHEN SHE WAS READY)
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

        Hmmmm...Where to start....?

Dcd: "I thought he'd know the alphabet by now!" (about his 11 month old who wasn't even talking much yet.)

Dcm: "Oh, no! Don't let him use the potty yet. I want him to be my baby for as long as possible." (about a 3.5 year old who was "this close" to being fully trained and who now at 5 is still wearing pull-ups and having accidents.)

Dcm: "Oh, great! Now I won't have to do it anymore. It takes too much time." (after I explained that according to a new regulation, I will need to brush her child's teeth once during his day here.)

Dcm: "You don't let the kids play outside in thunder storms do you?"

Dcd: "You do store his bottles in the refrigerator don't you? You don't leave them in the diaper bag all day, right?"

My latest - "I didn't think it would be so much work." That was regarding potty training.

DCM: DCB had five watery poop explosions yesterday. I think his tummy is bothering him so I gave him a mild children's laxative approved by our ped. Good luck today with all the poop(As she attempts to walk out the door)...

                Yes I sent him home...

Oh and as she was walking out the door with him i was sure to tell her "Good luck today with all the poop" *big smile*

I once interviewed a family that actually asked me to stop renovating my outside space and switch to a downstairs renovation as they would prefer jr had a downstairs play area since they didn't want her going outside much? Yeah sure, we'll get right on that! We'll just switch the renovation that we are currently in the middle of and bought all the materials for, AND at the same time change our program with lots of outside time to suit your indoor preference! Didn't take them.

Another mom asked if it would be too much trouble to make sure everyone napped in the morning instead of the afternoon because it worked better for her daughter's schedule...

Another mom asked me to please make sure that I watch that I don't give DCB any red dyes or sugar because he was acting up and she wanted to monitor that...which is fine, a reasonable request. The stupid part? DCB was finishing a RED POPSICLE on my front lawn at 7:30 in the morning. He got one every morning he didn't throw a fit from his mother. Sure though, it's only the food at daycare causing the problem!

One interview wanted me to nap IN bed with their 20 month old because she coslept at home. Um, first off, NO, and second...this is group care? What would the other kids be doing while I napped with their precious?

There are some special snowflakes out there, I'm telling you!

I would LOVE to be allowed to do this, if someone would have a conversation with licensing about me napping during the day!::

This morning, a mom drops off DCB-1 to me in the infant room with an iPad mini. I told her that it had to go home because we don't allow them in the center. She then said it was ok if he had it because that's how he learns his ABCs because his teachers won't do flash cards with him. I told her no then took it from DCB, who pitched a fit (just for show), gave it to mom, picked up DCB and shut the door. He stopped 30 sec later.

I have been predicting that infants will be on ipads as their primary toy for a while now. They are cheap enough that they cost the same as any other decent toy. We won't need a toy box, shelves, or centers. We will just have to buy a tablet for every baby, toddler, and preschooler and a playpen to keep them confined. We will only need about six square foot for each kid so we can pack em in.

If we toss them some pop tarts and a bottle filled with pop we will have an easy meal time too.

Daycare is going to get a lot easier soon enough.

Nanny, I hope not. I hate seeing how kids today are so dependent on electronics. I'm glad my center bans them. Especially for AS kids.

Back when I was much newer at this, it worked out that I had ONE child scheduled on Fridays in the summer months. I needed to take a day off so I gave the client notice it would be a Friday in a few weeks (IIRC, it was 3 weeks notice).

He was clearly annoyed that I felt the need to take off that day, even with the ample notice. He kept saying "I don't understand why you can't just take her, it's not like you won't have your own kids!"

This is scarily accurate. I love my niece to death, and her parents are actually really good about taking her places and doing things with her (almost too much really) but...
Last time we got together, she showed up in the car with her ipad attached to a frame on the back of dad's seat. She can watch whatever she wants and control the games, etc. Attached to her car seat was a tray with foods for her to snack on during the trip. Food, entertainment...all they need is an attached potty, and they won't have to talk to her the whole trip!!
