What Is The Dumbest Thing You Have Ever Heard a DCP Say?

Mine was yesterday afternoon. We live in a wooded area and there are a TON of mosquitoes here so I ask that all parents provide insect repellent if they wish for their child to use it...otherwise the poor kids turn into lunch.

One DCF has not sent any yet so I mentioned yesterday that their DD was being eaten alive and I wondered if they had just forgotten to send some.

DCD replies - We sent sunscreen.

Me - Okay but that is for the sun, it would be great for her to have something for the bugs. Even a natural option would be better than nothing.

DCD - But we sent sunscreen, if it blocks the sun it should also block the bugs.

Wow........ Children should come with manuals because some people honestly have no clue. I should also mention that this DCD is a teacher at the local school.

It says you are on the food program and provide all snacks and meals. Now does that include breast milk because that would be so helpful.Sure lady, let me squeeze that out just for you.

The first one that comes to mind.......

Had a dcg 2 and a half yrs, who ruled the roost at home.

Every day during pick up was a catastrophe, (btw....thanks to Nannyde's bye bye outside program, I've learned never to deal with this again )

So....one day turned into quite the commotion.
Dcg rolling around on the floor, kicking, screaming, hitting, refusing to put on shoes, coat, etc....all towards mom.
To the point mom had to pick up dcb and carry her in a foot ball hold to the car, only to not get her into her car seat, for much of the same behavior. Other dcp's were even trying to help mom get dcg into the car, to no avail. This whole scene went on for almost 20 minutes.

The next day mom sees me and says, that was weird? Upper gastronal problem?

        Yaaa..... that must've been it

Would it be okay if my son walked to daycare in the morning and you can call me when he gets there to make sure he's safe? I have to be to work really early and thought he could walk down when he wakes up.(He was three and they lived two blocks away)
I said hmmm,I don't know, maybe I could call dhs and see what their opinion would be?
          She was serious!

I think my daughter has crib anxiety so I'm sleeping in the crib with her right now so she knows it's her safe place.

I had a parent one time tell me she sprayed "sex spray" on her children because it calmed them from being so wild at home, then asked if I needed some spray for dc... NO, but thanks!

I hear stuff like,"He KNOWS ehat you are talking about?!??" When it comes to expecting a 3yo to obey all the time over tha past couple of years from diff parents. Always amusing.

Or that I should ask their child about pottying every 15 min. I tell them that I am not the bladder police and that job is best left to those people.

I'm a nanny. I actually posted here a long time ago, can't remember my login in info. I had a 2.5 yr old spit in my face multiple times and the parent say "Uh oh, he needs extra snuggles today". Probably not the craziest thing, but I sure didn't know what to say after that.

I had a mom (who's been taking courses to be a nurse online for a year or 2) who's DCB was always sick... like literally... always sick! Last July it was mid-summer and pretty hot, in the 90's, close to 100 but not quite. We had the AC and spent most days inside after 11am. Well sure enough DCB wakes up with his telltale red eyes and flushed cheeks that usually clued me in to his fever, sure enough 103!! I texted mom that DCB had a fever and needs to be picked up and she said she didn't think he was sick but probably just warm from it being so hot outside. ::  Really? I thought she was kidding... Um no, everyone else in the house is 98.6 or close to, everyone for sure under 100! It's not even 100 outside so how would the heat outside cause his temp inside to be over the highest temp?? LOL As a nursing student you would think she would know the whole concept of a fever, how it works and why you get one! A year later the child is STILL sick like constantly. He is in a preschool now and I think they've probably been clued in to his constant illness. She never EVER voluntarily kept him home, not once! He was sent home so many times it's not even funny but now she keeps him home!

I had one mom say she got locked inside my garage. Ok, the door locks from the inside. All she had to do was turn the knob.

"Lungs are clear" a quote used consistently in the two years I watched a doctor's child. No matter what the ailment ( fever, diarrhea, ear infection), dcm would try to bring dcg in no.matter.what ::
