It's been quite some time since anything has been posted. What's going on?
I have a few thoughts...if it's not too late.
1. Since nothing has been posted in many months this has all been made up.
2. It's your landlord or neighbor.
3. It's someone else all together...a stalker.
Now, what to do about it...
1. Go to Menards, Fleet Farm, Home Depot, Lowes or WalMart and get door alarms. They stick with double sided tape to both the door and the frame and when the 2 parts are separated a loud annoying whistle goes off. (I use it to alarm my classroom door from toddlers sneaking out.) They are under $10 for a set of 3. Put them on all the windows and closet doors and the basement door. Give everyone a pellet or a paint gun and stand watch at the alarmed windows, doors. When the alarms go off, take aim and shoot.
2. Get some cameras. Set some delicious baked goods on the counter and announce you are going to the store now. Head out the door, but not really. Wait for the action with a camera and a paint or pellet gun. When you see the intruder, take aim and shoot with the gun...not the camera. Pics come later.- Flag

Things were happening almost nightly for a while and then they just stopped. They tend to happen for a while and then abruptly stop and then for no apparent reason start again. Nothing has happened for a while until the last week of March. I’ll write about that in a minute.
I did write a thread entitled ‘Haunted House Issues Again on 7/16/14. On 6/11/14 I posted a thread entitled ‘ Update on Someone in my House Video of my Basement Noises”. I posted about a video that I had put on Youtube from my camcorder in the basement. And on 6/13/14, under the title ‘Paranormal Experiences’, I wrote about previous things as well as things that have happened in this house.
In June, just before I posted the thread with the Youtube video, I had put my camcorder in different rooms for a few nights and never caught anything or anyone. I heard noises on it, but never caught a person or animal that might be the cause of the noises. I bought those little door chimes from Walmart and put them on all the doors. But they never went off unless one of my family members was opening a door.
When I was posting about the noises and things being moved and the food wrappers in the basement, etc. I put baby powder all over the floor and on the top of the furniture in the basement. I checked it daily and didn't see any footprints or animal tracks for a while. Then about a month ago, I had an alarm system installed from ADT security (because of the friends of the girl across the street trying to break in) and when the installer and I went to the basement, I saw animal tracks in the powder on the desk by the back door. Neither one of us know what type of animal paw prints they are though.
Then, one day during the last week of March, 2015, something happened that I can’t begin to explain. I went out back to take trash out. I literally cannot lock my back door knob from the outside nor can I lock it and then close it. So I literally CANNOT lock myself out of the back door. The door handle on the back door does not lock. In order to lock the back door, you must be inside and lock the deadbolt and then there is a flip lock thing like they have on hotel doors. But both of those can only be locked from the inside.
Anyway, so I took trash out back and then when I went to go back into the house, I was locked out! I could not open the door! I knew that my front door was locked, but I went around front in hopes it wasn't locked, but it was. I pulled the screen off the front window and tried to open the window, but since it was locked, I couldn't open it. So I went back to the back door and tried to open the door a few times, knowing that there is no way the handle could have locked. I wound up throwing myself into the door a few times to break the door open! I have absolutely no idea how the door handle locked me out. It does NOT lock!!! So, that was extremely freaky and scared me. I tried to figure out how my door locked me out for days. I also thought that maybe someone was inside the house holding the door shut. But when I broke the door open, I didn't see anyone running away from the door. I looked through the house to see if someone was inside that might have held the door shut and I didn't find anyone.
But I didn't type about it on here. I guess with all the stuff going on with the people across the street – their friends trying to break in which lead to me borrowing my ex-husband’s gun and buying other weapons, staying up until at least 3 am every night to do my best to be awake and alert in case they tried to break in again. The attempted break in led to my daughter being too afraid to sleep here and she started sleeping at her dad’s for almost 2 weeks which made her forget to take her medicine that whole time which led to her trying to commit suicide (a side effect of abruptly stopping to take the medicine) which led to me quitting my part-time job because that’s where I was when I got the call about her trying to commit suicide and I just emotionally cannot be in that same location again right now. I tried to, but I kept having flashbacks of the entire scene from that day that I got the call. But there’s so much other crap going on right now that I didn't write about the house locking me out.
Other than the house locking me out in March, nothing has happened here for a few months. I guess, from my researching when I was posting about it, I guess nothing has happened since July. Which is really nice!
Now, if we could somehow get the neighbors across the street to move away, that would help. Well, actually, I still would rather that I be able to move. But, I'm stuck in this area until June of next year when my daughter graduates from high school. Then I hope to be able to move to a nice, safe area and into a nice, quiet home!- Flag

Oh, I just thought of another one.
A loaf of bread appeared on the pantry shelf! It was a brand that I do not buy and it was a brand new full loaf of bread! I didn't buy it. We don't usually even buy bread. We don't eat sandwiches much at all. One day, my younger daughter went into the kitchen and came right back out and asked me where this loaf of bread came from (because she knew it wasn't the brand I buy). I said, "What loaf of bread? We don't have any bread." She said, "The loaf of bread on the shelf!" So I went to the kitchen, and there it sat! A brand new loaf of bread! Who put the loaf of bread on my pantry shelf?
See, it's random weird stuff that happens here. Sometimes, it seems like spirits/ghosts/demons such as the red eyes, feeling someone sit on the bed, my daughter feeling someone shake her arm, and no one is there. Other times it seems like people such as when food is missing, we actually hear people whispering, or a loaf of bread appears in the pantry.- Flag

I don't have the money to move. My ex-husband doesn't want me move my younger daughter to a new school. If I try to, I really do think he will take me to court and try to get the court to force me to keep her in her current school. I don't know if he would win in court, but I don't want to go through all that. I actually agree with him that she should not switch high schools. She doesn't want to move to a new school. I don't want to move her to a new school. I moved once when my older daughter was in high school. I called both schools to make sure that the curriculum was about the same so it wouldn't mess up her classes and high school credits if we moved. Both schools told me the move wouldn't mess up her credits and all. But, of course, it did. I don't want to mess up my younger daughter's credits and classes.
I would love to move to another house in the same school district, but I can't afford to move and my ex won't pay for us to move. Basically, I'm stuck in this area until my younger daughter graduates high school. And, even after she graduates, unless my landlord kicks me out, I'm stuck in this house until I can afford to move myself. My ex refuses to pay to move us. He has, though, offered to allow my (well, our) younger daughter to move in with him and his girlfriend. But my daughter refuses to move in with them. He had been physically, mentally, and emotionally abusive to me in front of her and mentally and emotionally abusive and threatened physical abuse to her her entire life until she was about 14 years old. He has been abusive towards his girlfriend the entire time he's been with her after he and I split up. His girlfriend is equally abusive to him. His girlfriend makes it quite obvious that she doesn't like my daughter. So, it makes perfect sense to me that she has no desire to move in with them. My ex actually said, "You're telling me that she'd rather keep living in a house that she's afraid of than move in with me?!?" I had to tell him, 'Yes, she'd rather live in a house that scares her than live with you." Needless to say, he wasn't happy about that. Personally, I still don't understand how he can be so mean and abusive and be completely clueless as to why his kids don't want much to do with him.Anyway... So, we just have to keep living here. I can't afford to move.

I truly hope everything works out for you. After reading this post yesterday morning I was scared to go to sleep lastnight. My dh works graveyard so that didn't help either. It reminded me of paranormal activity so I kept expecting Toby to come strolling in my room from the hallway.- Flag

PV, with all due respect, I've seen in several of your posts where you talk about how your ex won't pay for you to move. I am not divorced, but why would he have to pay for you to move?
He has offered for your daughter to move in with him. She is his responsibility and he is willing to take care of her. She chooses not to move in with him.
Maybe I'm just not seeing it, but how is he responsible to pay for you to move?
I am not in your situation, and I'm sure it is frustrating. You have a few reasons for not moving, but your ex really has nothing to do with you moving IMO. He will fulfill his obligation to his daughter, but he has no obligation to you. Honestly I don't see why you would want him to either. I've read your posts about how he was abusive and controlling. Why would you want to give him any control over you, or even for him to feel like he has control?- Flag

CraftyMom,
I don't have the money to move. He has plenty of money. I'm not saying that it's his responsibility to pay for us to move, I'm saying that I can't afford to move. The only way we (my daughter and I ) could move is if he paid for it. It's simply that I can't afford to move. I would love to move, but I can't afford to. The only chance we have of getting out of this home is if my ex paid to move us.
Girlwitrims,
Thank you. Yeah, things get a little weird here sometimes. Thankfully nothing's happened for a while other than the door locking me out of the house.
Now, my concern is more about the people across the street from me. A couple of nights ago, the homeowner was arguing with some people at about 1 am. Then he yelled, "Get my shotgun!". I looked out the window and saw him walking in his yard with his shotgun! The people that he was arguing with had gotten in their car and were starting to drive off while he was walking in his yard with his shotgun.- Flag

And now, my daughter who is graduating from college and her boyfriend have broken up. They live together. He has agreed to let her keep living in their apartment until she graduates so she has a place to live while finishing school. But right after she graduates, she will be moving in my house.- Flag

Hi there PV. Man I sat here and read this entire thread! I am not a consistent poster to this forum but reading this really made me want to post.
first off, this really sounds like a ghost/demon to me. Things appearing and reappearing is not at all uncommon in these situations. I used to belong to a paranormal group and we would definitely run into things like this. Hearing noises, being locked out - very very common. I would take others advice here and reach out to a paranormal group. They will be as discreet as possible.
Have you actually tried talking to the spirit? Sometimes all they want is acknowledgement. Tell them you realize they are here but this is your space too, things like turning locks and rattling furniture is scaring you and your daughters. Ask that they leave or quit the scare tactics. You might be surprised how the atmosphere will change.
I find it very odd that the Catholic priest said they don't bless houses or do exorcism anymore. If I were you I'd see if there are any sspx or fssp chapels in your area and ask them for help. These branches of the church practice the Latin rite and are way more traditional (and serious about ghosts and demons) than others may be.
Good luck! I will be following this post for sure.- Flag

So i read half the thread last night and woke up and couldnt go back to sleep haha but i had to finish it. My little boy has done/ said really weird things to me ever since we started moving my grandparents things into our home ( they went into assisted living) and everytime we brought something in, he would wake up screaming pointing to the corner or just recently asked who was standing behind me (YIKES) it was just the two of us in the house, then he pointed at something above us and yelled " right there mommy right there" we started slowly taking their things to them as they have been moved to a bigger room, thank the lord!!!
i hope you can move soon or get it figured out, Hang in there :hug:Azchildcarepvdr- Flag

Have you considered it might be a Poltergeist? They aren't really ghosts per-se but made up of the crazy psychic energy that children create and they can sometimes take a 'physical form' that can appear human. If the energy is from your own children it would explain why the dog doesn't really react. Poltergeist experiences include: objects disappearing/re appearing after a while, noises, voices, things being moved around, shadows...basically everything you've been describing.- Flag

I had considered every possible thing I could consider. I was positive it was a supernatural thing of some sort. I wasn't sure whether it was a ghost, demon, poltergeist, or what. I researched all sorts of different supernatural creatures/concepts. But I was positive it was something of the spiritual world. That is until food went missing out of my cabinets and empty, used fast food wrappers were on my basement floor. Then I started believing that a person was somehow getting in and out of my house without me knowing it.
I still have no idea what caused all of those noises, shadows, missing food, fast food wrappers appearing on my basement floor, my house door locking me out of the house when I KNOW that specific door handle does NOT lock, the front door being unlocked when I arrived back home from an outing when I KNOW I had locked it when I left, etc.. I have no idea what caused any of that.
All that I do know is that everything stopped happening. I really don't even know when it all stopped. Since things would happen for a few days and then not happen for a while; days or weeks would go by with nothing happening and then things would start up again. Then at some point, I realized that it had been WEEKS since anything has happened. Now, nothing weird has happened here for MONTHS now and I am quite happy about that!
Now, my older daughter and her dog have been living in my basement since the beginning of the summer. So if it was a person who was somehow sneaking in and out of my basement, I guess by my daughter and her dog being in the basement, that person certainly wouldn't be able to sneak in and out undetected.
But honestly, the weird shadows, noises, and red eyes I saw floating down my hallway a few different nights, I truly don't believe could have been done by a regular person. I don't know who or what was in my house. I'm just glad everything's stopped for a while and I hope it NEVER starts up again!!- Flag

Yup, all this sounds like a poltergeist...the can come and go based on the emotional stability of the child who is creating it. If you were going through anything stressful during those time (other than seeing/hearing weird stuff) either your kids or yourself then I would chalk it up to a poltergeist. Once children lose the stress the poltergeist go away. Also, poltergeist ARE known to 'bring' items into the home...people will find things in their homes that they didn't bring in such as things like wrappers, etc. I don't know how but the reports (so many that you can't really deny them) say that this is also a common experience. I'm glad to hear its quieted down, just reading it freaked me out but I've experienced things like this my entire life. When we lived in the UK I used to see all kinds of weird things and my mom always told me it was b/c our family was 'gifted' in that way.- Flag
