Well, I suppose... maybe... If you have nanny experience, its possible. They supply room and board so you have no rent/mortgage or food expenses. They would supply everything needed to care for the kids.. (toys, educational activities, etc.) If the place is in a heavily populated enough area, and maybe on a bus route, you wouldn't need a car. You could use their washer/dryer, phone, and I'm guessing your "apartment" in their home has a television. It might work. True a hundred bucks a week is low, but aside from clothes for yourself, is there anything else you need that isn't obtainable on their dime? (I am quite sure I am missing something major here, so don't be afraid to tell me I'm nuts for actually agreeing that this could be a viable option for the right person)- Flag

I had a live in nanny when DH went through cancer treatment. The nanny had free room and board, her own room and bathroom, we supplied her with a TV and computer, I ordered all food that she requested and I drove her when needed. We paid her $800 a week. That was the rate in the area. It does seem high but when I thought about it, we all have a life after work. This woman had a room to go to. Sure she could have had a car and gotten out but most nannies dont. I couldn't imagine giving up my life and basically living in someone elses. That's what she did for the time period I had hired her. I can not imagine what kind of nanny people expect for $100!!!!!!!- Flag

Also..they want the person to have their OWN car with insurance. That'd cost at least $75 a month or so, just for liability. If there's a car payment involved, the nanny's whole check would pretty much be gone.
"students encouraged to apply". Uh..you're working 8-5, at least (assuming they're never late and then you're outta there for the rest of the evening), and then going to take your classes and do homework around that, in a house full of kids, that for the most part probably don't nap anymore?- Flag
