Other than extra clothing, diapers and wipes I honestly don't ask parents for anything because they'll just bring what they feel like bringing (or don't bring it at all) and "if you want something done, you have to do it yourself" .

I have extra shoes in every whole size from size 3 to size 9 because parents forget to bring shoes for their child .... SHOES ... I mean c'mon SHOES!!!

I'd rather save myself the headache and go out and buy the dang [insert name of whatever supply I need, that parents won't bring, here] myself.
LOL! That's why I supply everything, too.

This is how I do it, too. Otherwise, I have to wash my hands, lotion one kid. Wash my hands, lotion the next..... it would take me 1/2 hour to get them done (and keep them out of trouble while I am doing it, too).

I have parents apply it first thing in the morning, then reapply at our 10:30 potty break, then reapply after nap.

I just use lotion... I never really thought about spray and why I do or do not use spray. It's always a PITA anyway and like someone else pointed out, you have to rub the spray anyway! I usually have parents bring me a bottle at the beginning of the hot season and I use it for everyone equally unless there's an allergy or something like one DCG. She can only use one type of sunscreen. I only have 4-5 kids at a time so it's not a huge pain, just what we do first thing in the morning when we go outside and again after nap time when we go out.

        Wow

I was looking at a couple of threads that Blackcat mentioned to get more info on spray vs lotion and I ended up reading this post from a year ago that got very intense! I haven't come across anything like this on this forum before so I was a bit surprised.

Daycare Center and Family Home owners, Directors, Operators and Assistants should post and ask questions here.

THAT thread surprised you?! Then you haven't read The Thread That Never Ends ::. Those threads come and go, it tends to happen in cycles sometimes also as we are mostly women with strong passions and emotions, sometimes they're trolls. For the most part we kiss and make up and are friends again much like the the kids we care for. Some have left the forum because of this, some have (thankfully) returned. Others (thankfully) have not ::.

LOL! :: :: That is one of the more interesting reads....

There are several that got pretty intense a time or two.

I have the same policy. I don't have the time it takes to rub each child's arms, legs and face, wash my hands and THEN go outside. Kids don't have that kind of patience and neither do I.

Either they bring you what you requested or their child goes without.
Yes. I only spray outside with the wind going behind us so the mist is carried away as much as possible. I use a face stick on their faces. This process takes 15 minutes for 11 children.

If I had to rub lotion on every child it would take over 55 minutes because I would be required to rub it in and then wash my hands after touching each child with my hands. That is NOT happening. I send home any lotion and tell them, "SPRAY, please."

I actually do not rub the spray. The only spray that comes out white and globby is Coppertone for babies (pink bottle). All other sprays work wonderfully and are a sheer mist with no rubbing required at all (Banana Boat, target brand, walgreens brand, etc.).

Good to know! I may have to make a switch!

I don't have to rub the spray either, it comes out in a fine mist (the spray lotion has to be rubbed in) but not the CONTINUOUS SPRAY. I use a stick on their faces which I provide myself.

I'm rethinking now. I usually have parents provide sunscreen. However I REALLY like the continuous spray myself. I may just supply it myself so I know I'm getting what I want to use. It is not a fun task to lotion up 6 (or more) kids a couple times a day. As far as I know there are no regulations about using spray here, although I have to check to make sure

. When I send home a note requesting sunscreen, I capitalize, enlarge and bold the word SPRAY SUNSCREEN several times. They always get the hint.

I buy one bottle of spray and bill each family $1.00. That pays for it. They must sign a form and write the brand. They fill it in with the brand I buy. I ask them ahead of time if this is okay. No one has had a problem with it.

I hate having 6-8 different bottles of sunscreen to sort out each day. I spray it on the kids outside too.

I did this! I capitalized CONTINUOUS SPRAY and even included this picture!

To the above poster - how often do you have to do this? I mean buy a bottle?

I have each family bring one bottle. I use the same bottle until it is gone so I only have one out at a time. When these are all gone then I buy it. I am just not willing to spend $$ to buy ALL of it for the whole summer.

When they handed it to me, I wouldn't have taken/accepted it. Just send it back in their bag with a sticky note and the same print out you gave them with the photos.

This is exactly what I do. I also apply outside as the spray gets on my floors.
