So as far as transferring your license goes, it sounds like a fairly simple process.

I also want to add that just because a landlord can't say no to you running a child care out of your home, he/she can give an alternate reason for denying you or for evicting you.

MAY MY LANDLORD EVICT ME FOR HAVING A FAMILY CHILD CARE HOME?

"No. As discussed above, your landlord cannot stop you from providing licensed family child care for six or twelve children, which also means that he or she cannot evict you for providing licensed child care.

However, family child care providers should be extra careful to comply with all of the other provisions in their lease, because a landlord still can evict you for other reasons, like failure to pay rent on time, if the landlord’s family is moving into the rental unit or a violation of the terms of the lease.

In cities that do not have eviction-control ordinances, a landlord can evict a tenant without any reason by giving a proper thirty-day notice at the end of the lease term. However, a landlord cannot pretend that they are using a “no-cause” eviction if the real reason for the eviction is because the tenant is a family child care provider"

Sounds like even though they (landlords) aren't suppose to use that excuse, we all know they could. Just like when we term someone in child care. We don't always give the "real" reason...kwim?

Wow, Daycare....I sure hope you are able to find something. I am sending all the good luck, wishes and positive mojo I have your way.

I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you too!
I did talk with LIC and I found out that it is not as bad as it sounds, but MV was right that I do have to start the process all over again. UGH.

I am not too sure what I am going to do. I did get word that the Landlord is very interested in my offer, but it will stink that I will be having to pay 1000 more a month to live in the same house when if there was anything on the market for that price I could get a much much bigger house. Oh well, I can't worry about a bigger house when I need to worry more about being able to keep my business running. Right now there is NOTHING Out there on the market.

Thank you for all your positive wishes. I need all the positive support that I can get right now I am not taking this well.

Hope you get to stay or can find something asap!

I just informed my parents of an upcoming move but I only gave them 2 weeks and one day. I figured if my contract says 2 weeks to make changes or give notice then thats what I would do. I gave them the weekend to drive the route and think it over, then they could give notice within contract terms. I told them on a Friday and said if they wanted to give notice I needed it Monday. But then again I wasn't moving but a mile and actually ended up closer to my families so I knew it wouldn't be a problem, and it wasn't.

I worked in property management for years in my previous life and with self employed people we liked banks statements (blacked out acct numbers) showing consistent income vs taxes because we knew people wrote as much off as possible.
