I think my dcm does it because she actually wants me to hear her. She'll even sit in the car forever on the phone and then come in, still on it! Then once she's like "sorry, I'm making $50 an hour to talk to this lady (about who knows what)" like she was bragging.

If someone comes in with a cell phone to their ear, they get an immediate and long-winded synopsis of their child's day... in great detail. I keep talking for as long as I can think of things to say... even if I have to make things up. The phone is invisible to me. I don't care if they keep it to their ear. I don't even care if they are still attempting to talk to the person on the other end. I just talk, and talk, and talk...... as if the phone did not exist.

I also have it in my policies to not talk on the phone......not like a "policy" stops some people though .

My response would have been "No, but you can take it back outside where it belongs." Simple, short, direct, no apology.

I am such a dork....I could not stand up for myself if my life depended on it. Even when things happen outside of daycare I still don't.
