He would NOT be getting a receipt or an apology from me either.
He can bring the W10 to me WITH his past due payment.
He's also luck there aren't late fees added to what he owes.
I would NOT send a W10.
There is NO penalty for not sending one. The ONLY time there is a penalty is if the parent brings you the form and you refuse to sign it.
You don't even have to give them a year end total. If they want to claim it, they should have kept track of it.
I claim certain supplies I buy from Target but I don't require them to give me a year end total...I keep track of my expenses myself and add them up for the year.
As a professional courtesy I DO provide those things to clients that are on GOOD terms with me.....NOT ones who are rude and condescending about payments.
Send the receipt and move on. You're the one who didn't contact them 5 mos ago.
I see where you are coming from Sharlan, but I had a parent do this to me too and try to tell me they didn't pay their bill because I didn't invoice them.
As adults, invoiced or not, they should be aware of who they owe and what has or hasn't been paid.
They were the ones who originally told provider they would be stopping by to drop off a check.
I won't chase my money around and if a parent doesn't do as they said they would, the repercussions are on them not me.
