For those of you saying charge $75-$100 for the night, what is your daily or weekly rates? I don't think anyone in my area would/could pay that much and we are $25/day or $110/week.

I offered this 2 years ago but I can't remember how much I charged. I wanna say around $40. They were dropped off 7-8pm and picked up 9-10am. I only had 4 and 2 of them went home in the middle of the night (it was my sister in law and her baby just wasn't ready to be away from her overnight).

I know it's a bigger committment being over night, and a luxery to go out, but how many hours are the kids really awake the whole time you have them? I'm thinking about doing this again this year and was thinking just yesterday about how much I'd charge. Glad someone else asked

I charge $200 a week for the kids in my care.

I might be able to make $100 but I'm not sure I want to charge that much. I think probably $50 max..

Last year I had flyers place in the restrooms of local restaurants & club with my New Year's Eve rate. I had 10 (live in a small town) & had to turn away kids.

        My rates were:
        8pm to 2am = $50, sibling $25
        9pm to 9am = $75, sibling $30
        7pm to 10am = $100, sibling $30

        (dinner, snack & breakfast served)

Wow! How were the kids?! It would make me nervous to have kids I didn't know overnight.

Just curious which option most chose.

I chose to offer only overnight care for only one reason: I am too worried that a parent who would be drinking would show up and want to drive their child home under the influence. I just couldn't bear the thought...I'd RATHER they not spend the night, but I don't want to deal with parents who have likely been drinking trying to take their child home.

In my specialty care contract it states child(ren) will not be released to intoxicated parents. Proper authorities will be called and notified.

                  Mine too!!

My not so great dcm of the three sibling set I have here, she actually texted me last night saying she was getting off work early and was it okay if she stopped for a drink before coming to pick up the kids.

I texted back "are you serious??" She texted back "yes I need a break"

I told her that I don't watch kids for breaks, I have them for work only and she is not allowed to pick up her kids after having a drink period.

And you better believe I checked her pupils at pickup.

                  That's a huge no no

Just curious does that apply if one parent has been drinking, and one is completely sober. I would think that most would be responsible and do it this way, as usually regardless of if they are picking up their children, they still need to get home.

As long as the one driving is sober and their pupils are good and they aren't showing any signs of intoxication, they can pick up.

I personally don't care what they do on their time, but they aren't picking up their kids from my house if they are intoxicated and it's illegal for me to allow them to.

I tell parents the same thing. However, I don't want to be the one who makes the call at the front door about who is in good enough condition to drive or to be administering a breathalyzer at the door. I chose to do overnight only to avoid the problem altogether of determining who is capable of driving or of arguing with a parent who thinks they are "fine" to drive.

Unfortunately in MD we are not allowed to not give them their child, regardless if they are intoxicated or not.

But you are allowed to call law enforcement with a vehicle description and the direction they are going correct ??

Well I guess that's better than nothing !! Lol with my 300 yard driveway parents have to go 2 mph literally.... THe law would get to the end before they would haha!!

Honestly, I've only had an issue with this one time related to intoxication and one time related to incorrect child restraints. In all of my years.
