I am in MD. I have different perimeters than you. I can refuse a parent from picking up their child intoxicated.

Most chose 9am to 9pm..., nobody picked up at 2am.
I'm 24 hours, 5 days a week & not open on NYE or NYD so I did not have regular DCKs here, except 3 that used the service that night.

I would check that, MD has the same regs for the entire state. My licensing spec. was just out here and this came up. She said we couldn't.

I completely understand the perimeters and regulations that I am guided by. I have the ability to deny an intoxicated parent from picking up their child.

Um ok. I'm not trying to argue here but I definitely know my regs. In what section does it say we can do that? Please let me know.
I know some licensing specialists make their own rules up, but I did let my specialist know I will follow what is in the regs, so she can't just make something up.

I am sure you know the regulations that pertain to you. I typed previously that I operate under different perimeters than you.

There is nothing here to argue about. You may be 100% right as the situation pertains to you.

I am clear on the regulations that specifically pertain to me and my business.

In this instance, I agree with previous threads related to this... And I agree with nanny dee...

I don't CARE what the LAW says about me not releasing the child to a drunk or high parent. I care more about the child dying than I do anything else.

And as nanny dee said "I'll take that kidnapping charge thank you very much"

                And I will also.

What's he parent going to do? Call the cops?

I didn’t know Nanny Dee said that!

You’d be amazed at what some people do high or intoxicated.

I wouldn't be amazed. I've seen it all. I worked as an ER nurse for many years. And I've worked pediatrics many years and still do now a few times a month.

                      **shivers**

An ex was an ER doctor and he had some stories…

I am sure you’ve seen enough to last you a lifetime.

I just remember listening to a drug addict’s 9-1-1 call to report she was cheated out of the amount of drugs she received. She gave her drug dealer’s name and address.

Intoxicated parents can be the worse.
