I'm thinking about opening up my daycare for New Year's Eve. Has anyone done this?

I usually charge $50 for my drop in rate. I'm thinking about charging $35-$40 for the night, from 4-5 pm until maybe 9 am the next morning.

Has anyone ever done this? What kind of things did you offer? What did you charge and for what hours?

You could probably get more than that. Going out for New Years Eve is a privilege, not a necessity. Parents would pay a teen sitter 10 or more an hour. You are offering overnight care, 75 to 100 . Do you think the parents will get up and out to pick up by 9 am ? If I were giving up my New Years Eve to watch children, it would need to be worth it financially. Just my opinion.

Not sure about your state but in CA we cannot do overnight care. Awesome idea! I think you could get more then that too.

I think it's going to depend on where you live but at the very minimum I would charge your day rate. Also...I would put a hefty late fee. Say you choose 9am. Every minute after that...they would be paying me. If you call me...you have til 9:15 to get here or $1 a minute. I could see people sleeping in after partying all night and then you would get stuck with kids longer then you planned.

It depends. I know many California providers who legally provide overnight care.

It’s specialty care. It is a luxury to be able to go out at night. I wouldn’t charge less than $75 per child. For a family with multiple children, I’d charge $75 for the 1st child and $50 for each additional child.

In the previous state I lived my niche was specialty care. People will pay for the service. Let us know how it pans out for you.

I really don't have any advice but it is a great idea to make extra money. We don't do anything on that night anyway. I'm not doing it...just saying.

Where I live weekly daycare rates are really low compared to other prices I see on here! I WISH I could charge some of the rates I see on here! That being said, the $100 NYE is still completely acceptable and common.

I don't watch kids though, I always have a NYE party at my house with friends and neighbors

I do New Year's Eve care for my current families only at a rate of $50 for the night. Pick up at 1000 am drop off at 6:00 pm. No sibling discounts.

If none of my five wanted to use it, I would allow drop in care.

I'd charge more for sure. Also start later - like 6:00pm - 10:00am.

I am in the Upper Plains. Weekly daycare rates here average $110 per week ($2.20 per hour), but "babysitters" make WAY more than daycares. A teenage sitter here will charge $4-$7 per hour on a "regular" night. On NYE, the sitter goes to the highest bidder...there are not a lot of teens around here that will babysit-most kids looking to make money have "real" jobs after school/weekends. I would pay $100 for a sitter for NYE, and that would be for about 8 hours, so I don't feel out of line asking for $100 at all for overnight in my home with dinner and breakfast provided (and I will get it).
