I just waved a little boy off to Kindergarten a few weeks ago and wasn't sad to see him go. Why? Because he displayed so many of those moments you talk about. And they weren't even all in one day but through out the whole year. He'd get mad and throw things, chairs, books, etc. He'd refuse to sit down and try to calm himself down, he was very loud and would get in everybody's face. He'd scream, literally, until he got it all out. He'd stick his leg out on purpose to trip everyone. Throw his dish across the table when he didn't like his meal, which was most of the time because mostly what he eats is pizza, pb & j and corn dogs. What's ironic was I requested his caseworker to visit me in action to see what *I* was doing wrong or could improve upon, and to watch his interaction with the rest of the kids here. For that 45 minutes he was a complete angel. I coulda smacked him!::
Ugh, yep I know exactly what you're talking about! I worked in a center that had 2 preschool rooms (too many kids for one preschool). I received all of the children who were *challenging* while the other preschool teacher had all of the *non-challenging* kids. Had a behavioral specialist in my room for one kid or another at least once a week. Of course, the child being observed was perfect on observation day!
