Personally I wouldn't worry about being nice. I wouldn't be mean either but if I didn't want a family to return then I would either just tell them that I was already full for the summer when they asked for summer care next year or just plain be honest with them ...

"Unfortunately I have come to the decision that my program is not the best fit for your family. It is obvious that your child is not happy here when the other kids and mostly when my daughter doesn't want to do the things that she wants to do. This creates friction between you and I and unfortunately I can't interfere each time that the other children don't want to do what your daughter wants. I've tried that and that just creates feelings of resentment within the children because really, it's just unfair. My daughter and some of the other children feel like your daughter doesn't like them because they feel that she is always out to get them in trouble and in all honesty I just can't interfere for your daughter anymore, I am not doing her any favors by doing that because then she will never learn how to deal with her problems on her own. Because of this I think that it's best that she not spend all day here during the summer months because I already know she will be unhappy. I understand that this decision will probably offend you so although I would hate to see your family go I understand if you then decide to find childcare somewhere else. If that is the route that you wish to go, and again I hope that isn't the decision you choose to go with, then I would just like to remind you that I require a 2 weeks notice of termination"

I personally would add "but if you should find child care arrangements earlier then please let me know and I would be more than happy to, out of courtesy, release you from your contract early without any penalties. Like I said, it's obvious that your daughter is not happy when she spends full days here with us and I wouldn't want to subject her to that for another whole summer"
