Does Your Indoor Space Change When The Weather Turns Cool?

I am thinking ahead to winter but here is my challenge. This late fall/winter I will have two barely turned one year olds, a third one year old, and a delayed 2 year old. It will be challenging to get outside with so many young ones once it turns cold, muddy, wet or snowy. The barely turned one year olds may not even be walking.

For this reason I will be rearranging my playroom to add in some active play options that we dont have inside when the weather is nice and the backyard is an option.

I will be adding a slide, teeter-totter, small kids pool with ball pits, and a small trampoline. Is there anything else that you think I should consider?

For reference, I will also have a 3 year old, a delayed 4 year old, and a 6 year old when school is out and the preschoolers especially need some sort of physical activity options!

While I would NEVER leave them alone with a kid, I bought a bunch of blow up "punching balls" for the kids to use this winter thinking it would give them some excitement on dreary days (none of mine have latex allergies-I would ask about it before giving them to kids).

Be sure to check with licensing....

They made me take out my step 2 climber, playhouse, slide and teeter totter set because of the required fall zone/inches of mulch required for "playground equipment". Even with the rug and gym mats I was using.

      Yep, >>>insert expletives here<<<
      - Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.

That is why my back yard is empty of large motor climbers!!!
It frustrates me! You'd probably have to have a thick gym mat in NY

Yep, in the winter months, my small Little Tikes climber cube gets brought inside and my ball pit gets set up.

We also do ALOT more movin' & grovin' to music/dance videos.

During the winter months, my older kids still play outside daily. The large motor activites inside are reserved for those who can't go outside without me.

This is funny to me.......because I have the exact opposite problem! We have no winter, only summer and January:: We are stuck inside more in the summer due to ungodly heat and never ending.rain. Sooooo.....to answer your question (kinda) we do music/movement activities when stuck inside. No major space changes, just moving tables out of the.way to make room for dancing! Sometimes my hubs gets them doing indoor.calisthenics like jumping jacks, sit ups, leg lifts, etc.

The weather breaks here October 15. Then we enter "dry season". (I have heard of this "winter" of which you speak. I hear white fluffy stuff falls from the sky)::

It is 67F here today..... My DH and I spent over an hour trying to cover the garden last night because our area was under a frost advisory...

Luckily, it only got to be about 35F so we just missed frost....but it WILL be here soon.

I'd LOVE a few more days of 90-100F weather..... of course, I'd pass on the humidity though.... I like saunas but not the entire outside.

Sounds like Washington! I would love to live there! The rain doesn't bother me, I just really dislike heat. Which I don't think is a problem in Washington if I remember correctly.

SW Florida! It is record rainfall, even for the swamp. Lake Okeechobee is usually 8ft deep, now in danger of overflowing with 15 feet. Swamp anyone? Lol
