Very rarely and only if my husband is home. He's my substitute so I just let him know I'm resting and to come down right away if he hears anything odd. I rest on the couch and the kids are on their mats in the same room. I also lock the door even though I don't have any pickups or dropoffs during the times I rest with the kids. Most days I just try and learn something new or work on my curriculum for the next week. If the sleepy music is affecting me too much I turn it down once they are out and listen to more up beat music through headphones. I stay where I can visually check on the kids regularly if I do this.
Do You Ever Nap?

I was at conference once with a provider who intentionally napped daily with her dc kids. She was perfectly comfortable with it, as were her dc parents. She was a very interesting provider to talk to; definitely offered a daycare experience from a different perspective.
Personally, it's not something I would feel comfortable doing.- Flag

Here in MI we are not allowed to. That being said, I do if my husband is home (and he is licensed as my assistant) Only if the dcks are napping though. I have late night and sometimes overnight care and I sleep then, why not a nap? Love the state - I am confused at the ruling.I see little people.- Flag

I'm bad, because once in a while I do. I'm a light sleeper so I hear everything, its usually when dh goes to work at 4am and wakes me up and then I can't go back to sleep so it catches up, I need the second wind to deal with my own kids when they come home from school.- Flag

I've talked to daycare providers that lie down and some times nap during nap time (assuming all of their kids are napping as well). Have you ever done this? or do you do this?
There are days, like today, that I'm so tired I can barely keep my eyes open and the thought of closing them while everyone is napping is quite appealing - but I just can't bring myself to do it..- Flag

I have, but only when sick (which isn't very often at all). But....I have 2 helpers here - my teenage kids are homeschooled and help me all during the day, and the only time I did nap was during nap time when all dck's were asleep also. I just felt better having one of my own kids sitting here while I napped in case anything happened.- Flag

Oh man - I'm the one that started this thread - and yesterday I was sitting in my chair in the living room while everyone was napping and I was on my laptop and I dozed. hahaha
I startled myself away and am embarrased to say I must have been tired - drool and all!
I panicked jumped up quick and realized that I was only asleep for about 4 minutes. LOL- Flag

In my state there isn't a rule about this but I wouldn't nap when they are. I'd be too worried the whole time plus if I nap I feel worse when I wake up.
If I sit down I will start to nod so I try to keep busy so I stay awake or I'll feel like crap the rest of the day.- Flag

When I was pregnant with my second I was constantly tired and all I had were 2 babies that slept in cribs. I would bring my pillow and blanket into that room and take a snooze.
Now the only time I do it is if I am sick and my husband is home from work.- Flag

honestly, i do not see the problem with napping if the kids are napping. as long as the parents are ok with it. and really i do not believe when people say they do not. or have not. what do you do at night if you have daycare kids? you have to sleep. whats they difference? i mean, your own kids nap. i think theres limits of course but an hour or so is not that big a deal. i just think to many people are scared to admit what they really do behind closed doors.- Flag
