    Do You Ever Nap?

I've talked to daycare providers that lie down and some times nap during nap time (assuming all of their kids are napping as well). Have you ever done this? or do you do this?

There are days, like today, that I'm so tired I can barely keep my eyes open and the thought of closing them while everyone is napping is quite appealing - but I just can't bring myself to do it..

No way! There's just too much that can happen. Years ago when I was working outside the home, I showed up to pick up my kids to find their caregiver asleep on the couch. She was VERY pregnant at the time, always responsible, and a close personal friend, but I was still a little perturbed.

That said, I have found myself nodding off while sitting beside a cot waiting for a little one to fall asleep . It's tough, especially with those lullabies playing!

If I am sick and have daycare open I will take a hour nap right on the couch with the babies in the playpen close by but if I am not sick I do not nap.

that is why I always bring out my lap top - it keeps me entertained and awake.

I do occasionally...they all nap in one room, that is used exclusively for napping, it is right beside mine, and the door is shut. If my DD takes a nap and I've got kids that all nap in pack n plays, then I'm not sure why it could be an issue.

never ever do I allow myself to nap,.but once,... . 12 years ago I was 7days out from delivering my third child and I was nursing her, it was a warm day just before memorial day. we had been outside playing and at nap I was nursing and accidently fell asleep. I was sitting there, at nap had nursed my newborn and fell asleep. . I had a long time mom (over 6 years with me) who walked in,.. tapped my shoulder,.. and made me go lay down while she finished out nap. . I only took days off when I had my babies. I figured I was home so I might as well be working. .

I personally don't see anything wrong with taking a little nap IF they are ALL sleeping. I don't make a habit of it, but if I am absolutely exhausted or not feeling well, I have a monitor turned up very loud next to me & I'll take a short nap. As soon as I hear any of them, I'm up. I only watch 3 children though. All of the doors & windows are locked & I have a very large wonderful watch dog who alerts me when anything goes wrong. My DCM is aware and seems fine with it.

I have only when I am sick. I think all of my daycare parents would rather have me open and rest during nap time than close for the day...It helps get me through the long days when Im sick.

It's actually not allowed here, per the Licensing Standards for Daycare Homes in Illinois. But even if it were, I would not. I've never been able to nap during the day no matter how tired I am.

I'm pretty sure it's not allowed here in MI either. I never have, though it's come close at times when the lullaby's playing and i'm rocking a little one in a dark room!

                          its not allowed here either.

ive never actually laid down to take a nap and fall asleep, i would never let myself get that comfortable (i'm a heavy sleeper), but one time i put my head down on the computer desk and dozed off for 5 or 10 minutes. and once, i had a little girl who loved to play beauty parlor, and she was brushing my hair. i closed my eyes and kinda dozed right there...i dont let her do it anymore...

Sometimes I want to when I'm reading a book, during break, but thats why I normally dont read, it makes me want to sleep, I have laid on the couch, but I've never actually fallen asleep.
