My mom was kinda disappointed because the media kept saying the royal baby was going to be a girl.

      Thanks BlackCat and Mamac

It was a blessing. They are very happy and that means everything. Going to see him in just a few minutes and visit. The parents will be here 3 more weeks and then will go back home.

:: I know right! My mom was saying the same thing too. My mom said the paparazzi were wrong because she was carrying all in the front so it meant she was having a boy!!

Either way I'm such a dork and the very first thing I've been doing when I get up is look to see if Kate has gone into labor!

This morning I was glued to the tv watching the doors waiting for the royal prince to make his debut!

        God save the Queen'

One of the things I miss a lot about England, are church bells. I used to wake up every Sunday to church bells ringing when I was a child. And when I would visit my grandmother in Wells, Somerset, the cathedral bells were amazing.

Hearing the bells ring at Westminster Cathedral to celebrate the new prince made me cry!!!

                I'm doing a surrogacy in November! That's awesome that you're a surromomma!

I was actually happy I delivered my surrobaby the other day and DID NOT force the parents of said baby to share the spotlight with the Royal Baby! They also had a BOY!

I think the name is nice but I will admit to being a little disappointed that Spencer wasn't in there somewhere to honor Princess Diana.

I call it intentionally current event ignorant.

I don't feel a bit bad about it either. The only news I can watch without kids is the local 1000 pm news and its nothing but violence. I choose not to watch it but occasionally take in the newspaper
when i feel like going the 300 yards down my driveway to see if anyone left it .

But congrats on the royal baby!! What did they name him??
sooo me. The news is too violent for me. I get nightmares. ::

I wish they had used Francis which was Diana's middle name. Spencer is her family name, which is also the Earl of Spenser's(her brother's) name. I don't think he has the best behavior and William and Harry have never really seemed that close to him. I know his behavior after her funeral ticked off the royal family. At one point I seem to recall William saying pointedly that he didn't like when certain people spoke badly about Prince Charles, because he was his father. I think it's like you can complain about your parents and siblings but if someone else does - even a relative like a cousin or uncle, you get annoyed.

All that said, I love the traditional name. I'm sure he will have a nickname. And it's refreshing not to have to roll my eyes for another youneek or kre8tive name/spelling

I love that for once I could watch a news event and not have to try to hide it from my kids, or have to field awkward or uncomfortable questions from them. An educated, *married* couple who seem genuinely in love had a baby. That's how it *should* be...
Well I guess I'm one of those people. I don't see what all the fuss is about. By accident of birth a human being is somehow revered above other people with a kind of rock star status. Nothing earned. Maybe that is what the people you are upset with are thinking.

It is nice when any nice couple has a baby and I don't wish them any ill will. I once heard the saying "Every mother's son is a prince." That is kind of cool.

However, I feel the royal baby's birth is fascinating simply because of the fairy tale aspect.

It's nice to hear/read about someone in a GOOD way...one that evokes love, happiness and an overall feeling of euphoria for ANYTHING other than the kinds of "reality stars" American's idolize....

I'd much rather keep up with the royal family than the Kardashian's

Prince George Alexander Louis may not have "earned" his rock star status but I believe his family has....through generations of tradition and heritage and considering the state of most families now days, that is something to celebrate! happyface

Laurel, I get it to some extent, but the British people overwhelming want their monarchy to stay - its their own fault
Mostly the people who irritated me were the ones saying we should be more concerned about Syria, Afghanistan, etc. But there is only so much I can take of hearing about horrible things. It was nice to have some fluff for one day.

Should have read this first - what Blackcat said!

Wen I saw pictures of Duchess Catherine and Kim Kar"trash"ion in the papers together because both were expecting there was absolutely no comparison. The Duchess looked every inch the lady, in her dress, her manner, etc. Kim, with her neon spandex, looked awful.
