Bubble Week Has Been Amazing!!

The kiddos played for 3 hours putting bubbles around each other in the wading pool!! Then they played another 1.5 hrs making huge bubbles with yarn . No one wanted to come in for lunch! . Theme weeks are going to make my summer stress free!

Can you tell me how you did the bubble solution? Or did you buy it? How much did you use in the pool? I am having a bigger group this summer than usual and also a SA so I'm looking for fun ideas. Thanks!!

I bought this HUGE bottle of Joy on clearance for $2.50. In the pool I used 1/3 of the bottle. I just filled the pool up with 2" of water and then added soap until the hula hoop formed a nice bubble. I have all sa but 1 this summer and had no whining about being bored . Every day this week we are doing a different bubble activity and they all cost pennies!!

Mon- made bubble blowers out of water bottles and old socks. Cut the bottom off of the bottle, cover with toe part of sock, rubber band in place. They make huge foam snakes. When that got old we mixed the soap with liquid watercolor and made bubble prints .
Tues- we made bubble wands out of pipe cleaners and decorated the handles with beads.
Wed. Person in a bubble using hula hoops and big bubbles using yarn.
Thurs. vinegar and baking soda. We are also going to use the soda stream to make pop and blow up balloons with the vinegar and baking soda
Fri. We are making bread to demonstrate how the bubbles yeast creates makes it light.

I did a bubble week too! mine are two and under, so quite basic! Love your pipe cleaner with beads!

We did the soda bottles/snake

We made bubble pizza-kids pull apart refrigerator biscuits, sprinkle on cheese
and add sauce.....very good!

We did bubble prints after painting bubble wrap

I bought those giant bubble Wands at the dollar store....you have to wrap where they connect with electrical or duck tape they break. But boy do they work great.

I make my bubbles and use either gallon milk jugs or my favorite, the big button dispenser clothes detergent bottles.

Here is my recipe:

This recipe is for the detergent dispenser things that hold a little more than a gallon and it doesn't fill it completely so gallon jugs work fine too


96 oz water.
1 1/2 cups dish soap
1 cup cornstarch
2 tablespoons baking powder

I used a funnel for the powder... And gently mixed the ingredients by moving the jug back and forth for a minute.

Then Whalah bubbles. It fills up the individual bubble bottle so easy with e dispenser. Just move it a little before each use in case the stuff settles.

• 1 cup of distilled water (240 mL)
• 2 tablespoons of Dawn dish soap (30 mL)
• 1 tablespoon of glycerin (15 mL)
• Pair of inexpensive gloves
• Small bubble wand or pipette

I've been buying bubble stuff by the gallon. I have a dog that loves chasing them so it keeps her busy and out of mischief while the kids and I are outside playing.
I'd also love some of your theme ideas. If you please!

My staff assistant and I sat down for several hours and listened to the kids talk about what they liked. We also "interviewed" them to see if we could get good ideas

Last week was Camping week

We put up tents in the playroom with a faux campfire made out of pool noodles spray painted

We put up tents in the back yard and the kids foraged to find rocks and sticks to make another "campfire"

We made binoculars, Solar s'mores ovens, and mini camp fires out of old cd's, rocks, sticks, and tissue paper. Friday we did pajama day with a big naptime "campout"

This week the theme is construction. We will be building houses out of craft sticks. using gumdrops and toothpicks as tinker toys, Using graph paper to make blueprints. I also have a huge construction table set up with tons of scrap wood and bits, hammers, nails, screws, measuring tapes, yellow construction hats. The whole nine yards. Inside I went thrifting and foung a TON of play tools to set up an intrest area. I printed construction type signage and put it up too.

Next week is Dinosaurs. We will be making paper mache dino eggs, dino footprints, fizzy dino eggs, having a dino dig, dino name bingo, making dirt and worms, and several other things.

For the rest of summer the themes are:
July 4th -several crafts and a thank you card to be sent to our troops
Ocean animals
Pirates
Boats
Circus
Science week
Knights and dragons
back to school

Glycerin is definitely the way to go! I bought mine at Walmart and make bubble solution by the gallon.
