Sometimes clients are just annoying and they ask for things they shouldn't. There's nothing wrong with just saying "nope, sorry." Here's a backbone for future use. My DC friends and I used to pass it around. You did well this time. Feel free to pass a backbone to anyone who needs it.

and to clarify, my post was not to imply that every 12 year old is immature and incapable. (I did put that I personally would not allow my own daughter to babysit on her own at 12 years old, thats just my own daughter and my own preference)

I just didnt think this particular situation was a good idea at all. The daycare mom wanted care at the providers house for one and like the provider said, that almost means she doesnt have the day off either. secondly, the daycare mom had already shown herself to be pushy and hard to work with. I wouldnt put my daughter in a situation knowing that I myself, as an adult, have a hard time working with this mom.

certain 12 year olds are perfectly capable of babysitting, even for daycare families without it creating a conflict but I am sure we all agree that we must carefully review each situation so we dont create a conflict of interest or a bad situation for ourselves and our kids that are being offered up as babysitters.

Let me tell you, the next time she asks (if she even will), the answer will be no, she's busy. No matter if she wants her to watch her here or at their house. Although I did tell her for this one that she was not watching him here. Now she's had 3 other daycare people ask her about babysitting and those are all fine, no issues at all.
