One of my kids was going out of town to visit Dad, so I sent her home on her last day with her Mother's day gift so Mom wouldn't have to wait. Today Mom calls gushing about how much she loved it, thanking me. That made me feel good because so often no one mentions the gifts the kids and I make at all. So that made me feel good. Now I can't wait for the rest of the kids to take theirs home this week. lovethis

I think I figured out how to add pictures. I erased out the kid's names, which are on the palm of the handprint. You can see how in the one pic that the child has added felt flowers and a heart, etc. I think they turned out well.

That is so nice that the mom was so happy!! My husband saw the tile handprints that my dck's did and said oh the moms will love that. I thought, if they do, they never tell me. Very rarely do parents say anything about the gifts after they receive them. That makes me so mad after all the thought, expense and time doing it with the kids. They could at least tell me how they liked them. It's like they typically open the gift over the weekend and then just forget or something.

We have done this, but just on paper for a card, not pots. I just covered the child's foot in paint and stamped it on the paper, right foot on the left and left foot on the right so it comes out looking like butterfly wings. You only need to paint in the body and antennae.

I got a stone mold kit from walmart. I wanted to press in their hands but it set too fast. Next time I will mix it first and then pour it in the mold.

I hope these turn out ok.

One year we used Play-doh and made a mold of the child's hand.

We then filled the mold with plaster of paris.

Once the plaster was dry, we peeled the Play-doh off and had a perfect handprint of the child.

You can also make them into plaques where the handprint is simply raised verses indented.

                      It looked similar to these.

Just did the footprint butterflies and forgot to switch the feet when I pressed them on the paper Now I have to decide if it is worth re-doing them or just going with what I have. Maybe it will still look like a butterfly when I draw the center body part...but since 2 of my 3 kids here today freaked out when I painted their feet (my ds was one of them), I think I will have to make due with what I have for at least those 2. Leave it to me to screw up a simple project ::

Very nice! You pressed their hands into the playdoh to make the mold and then you poured in the plaster??

Yep! The play-doh makes a perfect mold....fingerprints and all.

Then you just pour the plaster into the mold and wait for the plaster to dry.

                              The Play-doh peels off easily.

I used both feet, but forgot to put the right foot on the left and the left foot on the right No worries, it is what it is. If the moms don't like it they don't have to get anything next year :: I did fix the one dcg who thought it was fun to paint her feet but that was mostly because I still have to do one with her older sister later and didn't want mom to wonder why they weren't done the same
