Also wanted to add that we went on a walk and found alot of items that we use for loose parts in are new dirt area pine cones, rocks, pine needles, sticks etc. this seems to have given more to play with then just the dirt. I also have an old kitchen set and picnic table out there so the kids can make all kinds of mud pies. I'll try to post pictures later.

This is what I'm planning on doing in my backyard!

Lol, I can't stop laughing at the radiotherapy. I was wondering what the heck that was! I thought you were doing some kind of therapy for one of the kids or that the sand made kids have to have some kind of therapy...you never know with all the "bad" things in everything these days. ::

That's why we don't have a sand box or table. The cats would use it. However, as of now, our cats use an area in the woods and all the natural dirt in the front is poop free . So, no sand box, but there's a natural area they just play in the dirt. For some reason the cats won't use that area but I KnOw if I bought or made a real sandbox they'd all be waiting in line to use it haha

Cat's do not like dirt. If you mix your sand 75% sand and 25% dirt the cats will avoid it.

Oh no, I assure you, my cats like it all . They love dirt and sand equally as much. But when we moved here in November, they took to the area in the wood line kids don't go thank goodness. We had sand boxes before... And it didn't matter how we mixed it. Maybe because we live so rural and our cats are weird

Me too. It's classic Love & Logic: Feel free to play in the sandbox as long as there are no problems. Throwing the sand is a problem; find something else to do. Sand put of the sandbox is a problem; find someplace else to play. We'll try again tomorrow.
