I only have one right now but I want more. As far as making you look unprofessional, it depends on what it is, where it is, and who is looking.
Mine is pretty big, on my calf and is not in any way inappropriate for the children to see, but I don't point it out to clients. If they see it, they see it. If they don't, they don't, No biggie.- Flag

I am covered head to toe in tattoos and I have five facial piercings. I KNOW it doesn't negatively affect my business. I have only had 2 interviewees pass me up in all my years of doing daycare - one was because the family was french and opted for a bilingual daycare and the other was because they didn't want to pay me over the summer (both parents teachers). I have clients from all walks of life and they don't see my tatts or piercings at all. They are part of my body.- Flag

Im not a fan of them myself, but on others I think they are cool. My hubby has several and I like his. As far as business goes...I think if they are tasteful and not ALL OVER then it wouldn't negatively affect your business.

I put that I don't have them or like them but to be honest.. if you're going to get one done, make sure the person that does it is a true artist.
I've seen some that were really pretty (for women). There's one circulating where the woman had an entire camisole tattoo to cover up breast cancer surgery and it's awesome.
If it's not a good artist, don't waste your money.
Now if I had breast surgery for cancer and reconstruction, rather than having it tattoo'd to look natural I'd go for a flower or a smiley face because.. well.. I'm weird that way. ::

I dont have one and dont really care to have one. Nothing I like enough to put permanently on me. Dont care if others have them, and everyone has them now, so you really cant judge- Flag

I find it interesting how neck in neck the poll is. I thought it would definetly be one way or the other by many votes. Each day is a fresh start

When they are legally old enough to make that decision for themselves, which in this state is when they turn 18
I would not sign for my underage child getting a tattoo or piercing beyond the ears. It's never something I'd want them to be able to turn back around on me when they're 30 and have a family....."MOM, why in the heck did you let me get this stupid ugly thing...."- Flag

I keep thinking about a post I saw a while back, I forget who said it but one of their DCM's got a tattoo with Sagittarius spelled wrong! That was pretty funny due to the circumstances of the poster. For sure, have it done by a professional- Flag

There is NOTHING from my youth that I love now nearly as much as I did then. Well, except Doritos.- Flag

I have one tasteful tattoo in a normal place. I thought I when I got it I was getting it in a place that could be easily covered, but now that I do work in a place that requires that it not be visible, its harder than I thought. No sleeveless or cute cap sleeve tops for me- Flag

I don't have them, but DH has one and FIL has a bunch - he is very careful about each tattoo having meaning though. He has a particular artist he likes to work with, and they design them together. They don't cover him head to toe, but he has them placed all over. I've gone back and forth about getting one ... my biggest reason for not would be the whole pain thing - I don't do well with it, haha.- Flag

I have a tattoo on my lower back and my nose and lip pierced. I think as long as the tattoos are tasteful and you can cover it up with clothing if needed or take it a piercing out if needed its fine. I think a simple nose piercing or one in the center of your bottom lip is okay as long as it is secure and not too distracting to the kids. Some of the daycare kids would just barely see my nose ring when I was tying their shoes and ask what it was and I would just say "it's just a sparkle". The tattoo on my back is kinda on my lower back and sometimes when I wear short shirts or low ride pants it will show, so I just distract them or change the subject if they notice it and try to wear a longer shirt or higher pants.
At the home daycare I used to work at the owner always told her daughter she would fire her if she gaged her ears to anything better than a size 0, got any noticable tattoos, if she got facial piercings, or an industrial and I heard that she would tell some of her old assistants that worked their before me that they need to take their piecings out and cover all their tattoos before work but she never really said anything about my nose or lip piercing (probably because they were small or she just didnt notice) though before I worked there I showed up after school to wait for her daugher/my roommate to finish her shift with ALL of my 14 pierings in (I was about 15 at the time) and she told her daughter I wasn't allowed there anymore- but she hired me years later.
Plus nowadays most parents have tattoos- most of them have their kids names, intials, birthdays and/or hand/foot prints.- Flag
