In my parent handbook:
-Hours-
The daycare is open from Monday to Friday only. Hours of operation are variable. I only work the hours and days you have contracted me to work in advance. While I adore the children in my care I need to utilize any free time I've planned on having. I do not open my doors until my first contracted family is due to arrive. If you arrive early my door will likely be locked and I will probably still be in my pajamas. Please do your best to respect your arrival times to avoid that for both of our sake!
Similarly, if you end up running more than 30 minutes late for drop-off without a notice, I may no longer be available.
It will then be the parent’s responsibility to find and finance an alternate for their child for the day.
I need to be notified by 5:00pm the day before of any changes in the following days schedule so I can plan the next day accordingly.
Any last minute changes I will confirm that I can or cannot make the newly requested accommodations.
That's being flexible, but also a rule requiring respect of my free time.
I am not a Super Walmart open 24/7/365, I am a single daycare provider that operates on planned in advance contracted hours *ONLY*
I'd be telling dad to take a hike if he spoke to me as if I didn't have a life outside of caring for his child......
