Kids are unsupervised a lot in daycare. There is one person for a few kids, and sometimes that requires being preoccupied. Thats where rules and consequences come in. Even my two year old knows better than to kick a ball in the house!

Unregistered wouldn't have posted unregistered (BC confirmed it's a regular member) if they weren't just trying to cause poop. Ignore.

A ten year old should know better. That's what is so wrong in so many kids these days. Adults are always making excuses for their behavior, so they don't fell accountable for any of their actions.

We, as providers, can't control everything that happens. Kids need to listen and take directions seriously. I, too, am tired of all of the excuses for kids' behavior.

So sorry that people are being unsupportive here. BTW I am a registered user, just too lazy to reset my password.

It shouldn't matter...at ten, surely he has more common sense than that. I would think a four year old has more common sense than that.

Grandma was a butt in excusing his behavior, but OP needs to admit that she did not remove the ball after the 18 mo old threw it over the gate and she admits to knowing it was there. She needs to admit that she played a part in the outcome!
But, it was a BALL. Inside. Not a rifle. The provider played no part in that. I don't automatically assume a ten year old is a blithering idiot. Some kids are, and should be labeled as such... like across the forehead or something. But, most ten year olds are capable of moving through a home without kicking a ball.

I have no less than 12 balls inside the house. I must have gifted children, because they've never kicked a ball in the living room.
