A couple of years ago a homedaycare in my state was shut down (they opened back up)because they were taking care of 30 kids. When they got shut down all of the parents ran to the media saying they didn't know that the ladies had 30 kids in house. Come on how do you not see 30 kids there!!!!
Come On You Have To Blame The Parents Too!

There was a lady around here that I believe had around 20??? My licensor said she would keep them in different rooms during drop off and pick up times and her assistants and her would bring the children to and from the rooms. The last 8 or so families all thought their child was child number 12 (how many you are permitted to have here) and fought for the chance to keep their child there since she was not shut down!- Flag

There was on here that had more kids than she was supposed to and i believe she had a pop in inspection and made i think 3-4 kids stay locked in an outdoor shed with no shoes or coats.- Flag

A parent interviewed with me a while back bc she was no longer happy with her home DCP. I asked what the problem was and she said that the daycare space was in a converted garage attached to the house that did not have an exit door or window. She complained that this space was all tiled flooring and was afraid that these were safety hazards. I agreed that they were but asked why didn't she have a problem with these safety hazards when she toured n interviewed. She said she didnt notice. Really, u didn't notice the room had no windows n only one door leading to the house, not outside???? Then she complained that the provider took on too many children. She had double what she was allowed. I asked if she noticed all these children on the first day n she said she was told during interview that her 14 year old daughter was helping out so she can have double the amount of DCKs. She complained that she would drop her child off in the morning and the 14 year old would be the only one there, not in school for the day, watching all these kids and the provider was no where to be found.
This parent ignored all of this and continued to send her child there every day for months. She left when there was a dispute over payment. Shows where her priorities were. Made me sick to even talk to her.- Flag

you would be amazed at how many don't care. Lets just say, I know of someone who had more than the limit and the reason the parents didn't notice is because they were all downstairs, so at drop off and pick up you would only see a few kids. Unfortunatly the neighbours did notice and all she got was a warning.- Flag

Several years ago in my area an infant died in a illegal day care. The day care was being run by the wife of a former State Trooper. They said there were too many kids in the dc and the parents claimed they had no idea the woman had that many kids there. I belive the death was due to positional asphaxia (baby sleeping in car seat). But I can never understand how they get the kids to keep quiet when the other parents are coming in (if they are being hidden) or where they put all the kids things (coats, daycare bags, shoes, etc.)- Flag

and they must not have been displaying work, if they even did any! I worked somewhere with school age and the parents would see I had many kids by myself and would comment but never did anything. Also, another place I worked we had too many kids in the morning before addtional staff came and a parent called but I couldnt blame her! I was the director but was not allowed to hire anyone!- Flag

I know I saw a woman who recently was accused of something similar but she fought it and charges were dropped. Apparently a parent who had been termed over payment called CPS saying the provider was doing these things

I was doing some research on a town I plan to move to for my future daycare and I found these:
She was way over capacity (and age ratio) for a small license, didn't have the proper fingerprinting for her assistant, and she left babies in car seats then put them in closets/bathrooms and other dark rooms upstair unattended with music playing so she didn't have to listen to their cries, and she's been doing daycare for about 30 years! In one of the videos is a neighbor interview and they said they didn't know. She was caught by an unannounced visit. In one of the videos/articles it says she was only licened for 8 max, she had 10 children total. Only 1 child was over the age of 2.
The California state ratio for small family care licenses:
1:6 + 2 SAC (1:8 total)
1:3 under the age of 2 (no more than 4 infants under 2 for Large FCC license)- Flag

One of my best friends' cousin did daycare for a while. She is beautiful and well educated and very personable and energetic. Turns out she was also a raging alcoholic. She got busted during a random inspection. They found 6 infants gated in a small room, full diapers, crying. They found sippy bottles, water bottles, and cups hidden throughout the house full of alcohol. If it wasn't for that home visit.......... I shudder to think.
The thing was, she'd clean them up and feed them just before parent pick-up. And because she was so highly functioning and looked so normal, the parents never knew.
It's stories like that that led me to do daycare, not use one.Can you imagine the guilt the parents must feel? People can be sneaky, deceiving liars. You never know what lengths they can go to in order to hide the truth.
