Do you comb your daycare kids hair? Any kid that i watch that has hair i will comb it and do it for the parents. Especially little boys who for some reason always have longer hair then the girls i watch.

When I did daycare 20 years ago, I had all girls and the first thing I did in the morning, as well as the last thing I did each day before they left was to do their hair. I had one little girl with hair all the way down to her waist and very, very thick....loved doing their hair.
The main reason I did it though was to put it in ponytails to help curb the possibility of spreading headlice should someone have it. I did daily head checks...I was so paranoid.
These days though, I don't do their hair. Times have changed and I think a lot of parents might be offended...- Flag

I do for two of the children since their parents do not brush their hair or style it. I keep those little plastic rubberbands that are small and inexpensive along with a little comb for each of them. It is long (past the shoulder blades, down to the bottom on one) and they end up eating it otherwise. Every so often, their Dad will "do" their hair which means pull it up into a tangly mess of a ponytail and I leave it.It keeps it out of their mouths and off their face.
The parents of the other little girls do their hair for them and they look lovely!- Flag

I have all girls and first thing in the morning i put all of their hair up in ponytails. It keeps it out of their face and DCM's don't seem to have the time in the morning to do it. I dont mind and it makes the girls feel special. I redo before they leave also.- Flag

Omg, I had a little girl get syrup all in her hair a couple of weeks ago. The only way to get it out was to wash it so we did. I didn't want her walking around with a wet head so I pulled it up in a pony tail and twisted her bangs away and secured with a bobby pin. It was the first time I had ever seen her whole face! She was so much happier playing that day and it was cute!
But when mom saw it..you would have thought I cut it off.- Flag

After breakfast all the kids go potty, wash face, comb hair, brush teeth, just basic hygiene. After afternoon nap and snack we do it all again. I've just always put the little girls' hair in ponytails and little boys get combed nicely. No parents have ever complained.- Flag

OK, I have never heard of anyone being offended by something so silly.
Please, tell me why??? What did she say???? What was the issue?
I just can't imagine NOT fixing their hair after the rough play, climbing, rolling and digging in dirt and mulch we do... It would be rude not to, IMHO.
I would be verbally crucified if I sent my DCK's home looking the way they do at 5:15.... :::
: By 5:30 everyday, they again look like the perfect angels they dropped off... Not the maniacs I ran amok with all day...
Oh, I want to hear these stories....- Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.- Flag

I had a parent go crazy on me for putting bands/barrettes in dcg's hair. It was at that in between length of being too long and in her face and not long enough to pull up in a full pony. DCM said she didn't want anything in her hair because it was so fine she was afraid any "contraption" could break her hair off.- Flag
