    Plates

Anyone use paper plates and bowls? I just got my water bill and it is so much higher than before! I am always washing dishes though so I was wondering if maybe I should try paper plates for these guys?

I do because I don't have a dishwasher and I would constantly be at the sink trying to get caught up.

I know some people say wash them as they finish up but it just doesn't work for this group. This is a group I have to be on top of constantly so I really can't be at the sink when part of the group is out of eyesight.

We can't recycle things like this though but we don't pay anything for garbage service.

Also, our water bill can be over $100 a month so adding extra washing would just raise it even more.

We probably spend $20 a month on paper products.

I use paper everything. I use paper plates, bowls and cups.

I also recycle EVERYTHING. I know alot of places don't allow you to recycle certain things or paper products that have been used but I am lucky enough to live in an area that does allow recycling of those things.

My garbage costs for the entire year are less than $50.

I use "real" plates and bowls and utensils because I can't bear the thought of generating that much trash. We can't recycle those items her... those you you that can - awesome!

Last summer I did just to keep up. It really adds up fast! I spent about $15 a week

We can't recycle used paper plates/bowls/cups so we don't use them here.

I also do not have a dishwasher.

Our water bill is very reasonable despite all the dishes and laundry I do each day. But that might be because hubby and I always shower or bath together instead of apart ::

I run my dishwasher twice a day (including my family's dishes). We use plastic. Occasionally if my dishwasher is nearly full and I don't have room for the kids' stuff I will serve their lunch on paper but mostly I use plastic.

This is great! Not just for saving water but also for your relationship. Wish my man didn't have to be out of the house so early for work (3:45!!!) because I think that would be a GREAT way to start your day :: Kudos to you guys for being adorable happyfacehappyface

I have done both. I am back to using reusable plates. We will see how long it lasts.

I use paper Dixie cups once a day and paper plates once or twice a week for lunch. I do have a dishwasher.

Years ago when I did FCC I used paper plates every day and did have dish washer.

I use plastic too. I just found that it was too much garbage when i used paper plates. And if I wanted to use the better stuff i had to spend the extra money.

We usually bath/shower at the end of the day... we call it "washing the day away!"... which sometimes leads to what we call... ummm, nevermind. LOL!

I use paper plates, bowls, utensils, and cups. I kind of hate to be wasteful and have considered switching, but to be honest it saves me so much time and effort and I have just always done it this way. I think I will change sometime in the future...but I'm not ready yet.

Occasionally when I get overwhelmed I use paper. But I've been able to keep up lately. I do 1.5 dishwasher loads/day. I also use cloth napkins, hand towels, and washcloths. I do 1.5 wash loads for this per week. I don't like to have to buy the paper products and get it home and stocked! This way I buy paper products at Costco about once per year.

I use Ikea dishes but I would like to find some skinnier cups so more could fit in the dishwasher at a time. Right now I'm only able to get about 6 cups into a row.

I do. I buy the uncoated cheap-o kind from Walmart or Target.
