Every single one gave me giftcards or cash and even a beautiful bracelet. The best part of all of it? The heartfelt messages that were in the cards that came with the gifts. Those notes meant alot. Shame on those people that don't even give a card.
I agree a card is the best. Just a simple heart felt THANK YOU!

This is my first year and I wasn't expecting anything but a few families got me and my assistant some things. We got gift cards, lotion,we got champagne, cookies, I even got cash which was WOW. I received the CUTEST Christmas card in the mail. DCB looked adorable with his little finger in his mouth. I want to keep all of them for years to come. One DCM even used a picture I took of DCG for their Christmas card. They all wrote such sweet things in them too. And some parents...nothing...but thats ok. Everyone said Merry Christmas!

I have gotten a variety of gifts over the years. This year it ranged from nothing (no card even) from one family to a $ 75.00 gift card. Usually I get nice little gifts and occasional regifted (tags left on bottom..).

I spend about $30 - $ 40.00 on each child here at Christmastime plus I make a movie of the kids doing various Holiday activities at daycare and give a copy to each family. I have not gotten a single email or text 'thank you' yet this year. It hurts.

It is a little tricky this year as I saved 3 vacation days for the days between Xmas and New Years which gave me 11 days off in a row. I told families about this months ago...but now some of them are mad and I suppose feel like they have already 'given' me something by paying me for my time off.

Whatever...it makes me sad every year, but at least I know the kids had fun and enjoy their gifts from me.

I know what you mean - the only two "bad" gifts I've ever received were from PITA families. One was a gift card to Blockbuster (we never rented from them) that was already redeemed ::, and the other was a tacky Christmas sign with the clearance tag still on it (I think it was $2.97) from a mom who worked at the store it was from, so she got an additional discount on top of that.

Other than that, though, I've had really awesome and generous families through the years.

I've never expected presents from any of my families. I've never felt slighted when I didn't receive anything. I would really rather not get anything than a trinket or knick knack that I can't use.

This year, I got a tower of snack/candy items. I'm sure the kids will enjoy eating them.

One parent gave me a week's bonus, plus paid for next week when the child isn't coming. I'll only have the child 2 days the following week.

One gave me a $25 gift card for Disneyland. They know we go all the time.

One gave me a $25 Visa gift card.

I didn't get anything from the last which is just fine.

The best present I received this year was a hand written card from a mom that said " thank you for helping me become a better mommy" I was in tears.
She hugged me on Friday and thanked me again.
